Description:
Don't want the crowds @ Hanauma Bay? Then a catamaran ride to Turtle Canyons is just for you!
(This tour is currently not operating. For a similar option, click the book it button)
A FREE shuttle will pick you up ~8am (you will be back around 12pm) & take you to Kewalo Basin (south shore), where you will embark in one of Oahu’s newest & most impressive catamarans, the Makani. After a safety briefing you will set sail towards Turtle Canyons! Upon reaching turtle canyons you will be fitted with professional grade snorkel gear, fins, & a life vest. Plunge into the warm Hawaiian waters & snorkel just enough to not get too tired! Turtle Canyons is where all the turtles go to get “cleaned” by other fish, so expect to see many colorful varieties unique to the island. After an exciting snorkel, set off towards Oahu’s iconic Diamond Head for a relaxing sail & enjoy the beautiful views of Waikiki, & the Koolau Mountain Range. If you’re lucky you will see packs of mischievous dolphins racing with the Makani, & in the winter season maybe even some whales (Dec.- April)! Don’t forget your camera! Enjoy a sandwich bar with hearty fillings and sides. Be sure to top off a delicious lunch with a High Tide, Makani’s signature cocktail with one of your 2 complimentary drink tickets! WHAT YOU MIGHT LIKE ABOUT THIS TOUR - This is one of the nicest catamaran boats on the island, & its at a great price (many offer similar tours for more than $100!!!)
- In the winter if you're lucky you will also see whales! (Dec.-April)
- Its got a huge sail, & if you've never been sailing this will be a great way to experience the power of the Hawaiian Breeze!
- With life vests & fins & professional snorkel equipment & crew, you will feel very comfortable & safe & be able to enjoy! Its easy too!
WHAT YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE ABOUT THIS TOUR- Some people get seasick. We recommend taking a motion sickness pill before the tour. Also, the crew is very good about giving you tips to avoid motion sickness.
- Some people think it is too easy. For those who want more adventure, we recommend scuba diving (beginners ok). This trip is very safe & the crew does a good job of keeping the group together & making sure nobody swims too far from the boat.
- Some find sailing to be boring. While this trip is very cool because you stop to snorkel, the main focus is sailing. Its very relaxing, but some find it too relaxing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Click on the red "Book It" button and you will see live availability. Keep in mind availability changes constantly, so make sure to book in advance!
H Tours Hawaii is a "one stop shop" for all the best activities in the Hawaiian Islands. Since we work with many providers, reservations are necessary. WE HIGHLY recommend making reservations, as many activities are at a discount when you reserve in advance. Some providers even charge higher for those "walking in" because they know chances are you're not going to walk away. Finally, a reservation ensures you have a space on the tour. Trust us you don't want to spend so much time and money to come to Hawaii and then miss out on an activity because they were booked out!
Choose the tour you are interested in, click the red “Book It” button adjacent to the tour information, and complete the booking form.
Most companies, if not all, require you to call them if you're trying to book something 2-3 days in advance. Do you really want to be spending your valuable time in Hawaii calling around to desperately find something that is available to do? While we can usually accommodate most last-minute bookings, we highly encourage those that are checking out our website far in advance to book 2-3 weeks prior to desired date. You never know if there's a convention, special event, or an increase in overall visitors in town, and it would be a shame if the activities that you want to do are sold out because you waited until the last minute. Basically, if you know you want to do it, just book it!
Great question! This particular tour goes out in the deeper water. Every time I have gone there have been turtles everywhere and I've taken some very closeup shots. Bear in mind, its nature so the quantity of turtles is always unpredictable. With the "Circle Island Turtle Snorkel" tour you can notice from the pictures, its done in shallow water. This tour would be a better chance of getting close up pictures. They are usually also basking on the beach as well. Hope this helps!
Most companies have a set of centrally located hotels that they do pick ups from. When you select your hotel in the booking page, you will see the pickup location and directions. This makes the pickup process short so you can start the tour as soon as possible!
Yes! You will have a life vest, so they will be able to float. Every time I've gone to that spot I've seen turtles, so it's definitely one of my favorites tours on Oahu to see turtles up close in their natural habitat!
