Description:

Every Sunset delivers the promise of a new dawn. Sunset Tours start in the early afternoon before the magic light appears. We pick you up five hours before sunset to take you on an enchanted visual road trip around half of the island. We have carefully picked several locations where you create stunning images of coastal vistas, tropical lush valleys, dramatic waterfalls, ancient ruins, and white beaches. When the magic light arrives we have three different locations we go depending on the weather and light. Sometimes we are on top of a mountain overlooking Diamond Head and the Pacific coastline other times we find ourselves close to the ocean near the beach with silhouetted palms for the classic Hawaii shot.

After the sun goes down that’s when we capture some glittering twilight photographs. During the summer months we stay to photograph the fireworks on Friday nights. Then we drive you back to Waikiki in time for dinner.

We are local photographers and naturalists who love photography and sharing the hidden places no one else will take you to. As experienced photography teachers and guides we assist you with pro photo tips whether you are using a mobile phone, pocket camera or DSLR. Experienced photographers will appreciate all of our unique locations and those who are new to photography will like the simple non-technical hands on approach to learning to take photos. We are committed to you capturing stunning images.

The Sunset Photo Tour offers a variety of locations and lighting situations – perfect for landscapes. You’ll have photographed unique places that only locals know about on Oahu.

There is no other tour on the island like this one. The Sunset Photo Tour is a great way to say goodbye to another beautiful day in Hawaii.

  • During the summer months ( June thru August ) we  photograph the fireworks on Friday nights

Frequently Asked Questions
Click on the red "Book It" button and you will see live availability. Keep in mind availability changes constantly, so make sure to book in advance!
H Tours Hawaii is a "one stop shop" for all the best activities in the Hawaiian Islands. Since we work with many providers, reservations are necessary. WE HIGHLY recommend making reservations, as many activities are at a discount when you reserve in advance. Some providers even charge higher for those "walking in" because they know chances are you're not going to walk away. Finally, a reservation ensures you have a space on the tour. Trust us you don't want to spend so much time and money to come to Hawaii and then miss out on an activity because they were booked out!
Choose the tour you are interested in, click the red “Book It” button adjacent to the tour information, and complete the booking form.
Most companies, if not all, require you to call them if you're trying to book something 2-3 days in advance. Do you really want to be spending your valuable time in Hawaii calling around to desperately find something that is available to do? While we can usually accommodate most last-minute bookings, we highly encourage those that are checking out our website far in advance to book 2-3 weeks prior to desired date. You never know if there's a convention, special event, or an increase in overall visitors in town, and it would be a shame if the activities that you want to do are sold out because you waited until the last minute. Basically, if you know you want to do it, just book it!
Most companies have a set of centrally located hotels that they do pick ups from. This makes the pickup process short so you can start the tour as soon as possible! When you get to the booking page, select the hotel you are staying at. Your confirmation email will have the pickup location which will either be your hotel, or somewhere within 5 minute walking distance.
Gratuity is never required but if you enjoyed your experience, a tip is always greatly appreciated!
No. All skill levels can enjoy the tours. Each tour is educational and we teach you how to get great photographs with whatever camera you have…even if it’s an iphone, ipad or Android device. Experienced photographers will appreciate the off-the-beaten path locations.
We do have some cameras and lenses available for rent. For more rental options contact Hawaii Camera Rental. They are located close to Waikiki for east pickup or they will FED EX to your hotel for you. It is not necessary to have a camera to enjoy the tours. Many people come with only mobile phones.
We take you to destinations away from the crowds. Your photography guide will take you off the beaten path to beautiful locations. Along the way sharing Hawaiian culture and the history for each site giving you a personal connection and story to accompany your photos. We give personal photography Instruction. At each stop your guide provides expert tips for creating stunning imagery. This workshop-like experience assists you in transforming your photography skills allowing you to capture your own unique images that tell your personal vacation story. Whether you use a DSLR, pocket camera or even an iphone we can assist you in creating beautiful photographs. At the end of your photo tour you will have captured breathtaking photographs that will last a lifetime.
We provide pick-up and drop-off in Waikiki, professional one on one photography instruction, water, tripods, and umbrellas in case it rains.
We will pick you up at the Ala Moana Beach Park. There is free parking. It is the east side of the park near the Marina on Magic Island. When you book your reservation we’ll send you a map.
Sometimes it rains, usually for a short time, but when the sun comes out, that’s when you can catch a rainbow.
We limited our small groups to 7 people. We would like everyone to be comfortable and be able to spread out in our van and also give you personalized attention. Family tours and private tours can have larger groups if needed.

Fantastic ! I'll do it again if I go back to Honolulu
Overall:
Marie really knows the best spots and its best timing for each spot to take pictures! She masters advanced photography techniques and even provides each of the participant with a tripod (which is very useful). In our trip, she gave personal assistance to me and the other participant and took us to play ... more
with the unique feature in our cameras. And what's most interesting
about Her is her broad knowledge about the island and Polynesian
culture, which really developed my senses about the island and added
personal memory to each photo I took.

My tour started at 3 when
Marie picked me up at my Hotel (She was so generous, she waited for me
even though i was late for 10 minutes to show up due the lateness of the
Hanauma Bay tour I took earlier that day) and ended at 7:30 where she
dropped me off at the hotel again.

This sunset tour turned out to be the highlight of my short Honolulu Trip !

Best tour on the Island!!
Overall:
This is the best tour on the island! It doesn't matter what kind of camera you have, or even smartphone, you will love this tour! Marie is extremely knowledgeable about both the island, different camera types, and photography. We stopped at several places that most normal sight-seeing tours wouldn't even think of. It's very personal and Marie ... more
takes the time with everyone individually to teach them new ways to
capture the perfect picture! Our sunset tour was a little over five
hours long so you definitely get your moneys worth! I had both my Nikon
camera and my Samsung phone and learned so much from her on how to take
absolutely amazing pictures with both!!

Sunset Tour
Overall:
I had the pleasure of meeting Marie on the July 24th, Oahu sunset tour. I wanted to thank her for the highlight of vacation. Marie took four of us to some awesome island locations that provided great photographic opportunities. I didn't know my camera as well as I should have and I ... more
learned more about my camera and photography in four hours than I have
in the last 4-5 years. The photos came out great and we learned a lot
about timing, camera settings and white balance. The adding or taking
away of light really enhanced or changed how the photos turned out. I
couldn't wait to continue taking photo's for the remaining time of our
vacation. Marie was extremely knowledgeable of the island and the
history. I found her very personable and patient while providing hands
on field training on the proper use of the camera. There was plenty of
time and she allowed ample time for each guest photographer to get the
shot we all wanted. I can't say thank-you enough. Thank-you Marie for a
great time. If you want a great time and a great photo opportunity with
what ever type of camera you may have (even a phone camera) Blue Hawaii
Photo Tour is the way to go!!!!!! Charlie from California.

Outstanding tour in Oahu
Overall:
We had a family vacation in Hawaii, and my family (Dad, Mom, and Sis) visited from Korea. Considering that my father and my wife always like to take a picture, but never had a chance to learn about their cameras and how to use it, I thought that Blue Hawaii Photo Tours would be a ... more
great experience for my father and wife, as well as the rest of my
family.

Marie was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Even
though my mother and sister cannot speak English very well, she took
care of them very well and was very considerable.
Since only five of our family joined on the sunset tour with Marie, it was like a private tour.
She
accommodated the entire tour based on our preference and previous
experiences on photography, and she explained a lot of things that would
be really useful for taking real-life photos.
Even, I who has been taking photography for 6 years enjoyed this tour and learned a valuable technique.
I am really happy to book this tour for my family vacation, and it was one of the best parts of this trip!

Overall:
An excellent experience! Money well spent! I booked the sunset tour with Blue Hawaii Photo Tours, and Marie met me at my condo where I was staying on Waikiki. She picked me up asked a few questions about what I was looking to accomplish on the tour from a photography experience. We immediately set out to various locations that I would ... more
not have been able to have found or known about.

I came away
with excellent photos and a great story to tell. Whether you are
shooting with an iPhone or a DSLR, you will NOT be disappointed!

Overall:
My wife and I took the Sunset Lookout photography tour with Marie and Blue Hawaii Photo Tours during our last vacation in Oahu. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Marie was not only a great photography instructor but also one of the best tour guides we had during our time ... more
in Hawaii. After picking us up in Waikiki, she drove us to several
amazing locations including some off the beaten path that we would never
have thought to visit on our own. At each stop, Marie helped us take
some of the best vacation photos that we have ever taken. Between the
two of us, my wife and I shared one digital camera and one smart phone.
Marie was able to help us fully utilize the capabilities of each
device, and we learned some really neat techniques. The best part of
the tour was ultimately the sunset lookout high above Waikiki. We were
able to capture some great photos of the sunset as well as some of
Waikiki at night. It was the perfect ending to a great day.

Best Way to See Oahu
Overall:
I have lived on Oahu since 1968, but Marie took us to places I had never seen, such as the ruins of King Kamehameha's summer home. Even more exciting, she showed us the old tourist haunts, such as Makapuu Pt. and Mt. Tantalus, in literally a new light. I have watched my share of ... more
sunsets, but never with a guide who knew exactly where to be at just the
right moment to experience the full spectrum of the luminescence at the
end of a day. I learned so much about my island, my camera and myself
on this amazing tour. Whether you are a local or a tourist, a novice
photographer or a pro, Blue Hawaii Photo Tour is an Oahu adventure of a
lifetime.
