Shark's Cove is a beautiful reef located on the north shore of Oahu. It has been rated by Scuba Diving Magazine as being one of the twelves best beaches for diving in the world. Shark's Cove is part of the Pupukea Park Beach. Shark's Cove is rocky is many underwater caves formed by lava. It has crystal blue clear waters and is very popular and a famous diving spot because of the diversity of marine life. Tropical coral reef, turtles, the damselfish, the butterfly fish, and also some white tipped sharks, which call this their home and many other species. They are not aggressive, but you should not disturb them.
Underwater tunnels of about 15 to 45 feet, the bottom of the cove is made up of large, smooth boulders, coral heads, small caves, and ledges. Shark's Cove attracts snorkelers, scuba divers and is a wonderful beach for swimming. It is almost not recommended to take children there. Shark's Cove is located near very popular surf spots on the north shore and the banzai pipeline so there are often large swells. When there are waves on the forecast, the current can be very strong.
You should wear shoes because the coral reef is sharp everywhere. The summer is the best period to enjoy sharks cove. The ocean is often calm during this period. In the winter season, waves can reach 40-50 feet high. There are amenities and a parking lot, but the popularity of Sharks Cove is such that the parking lot is often quickly filled.
