Haleakala National Park stretches
across the eastern and southern coastline of Maui; it is a home to many
endangered species and to the highest peak of Maui. It rises to 10,023 ft above
sea level; however the elegant slopes of the park can be spotted from any part
of the island. The park spreads above 30,000 acre land that includes 3
different visitor centers, along with a collection of nature’s beauty. Visitors
can discover the highest points of Haleakala which means ‘house of sun’.
People loving adventure
activities can go for hiking and move around the place by enjoying the rides on
horseback. At the end of the park towards the sea, visitors can view blossoming
areas filled with streams and waterfalls. The best time to catch the beautiful
sight is during sunrise, therefore tourists should get up early in the morning
and reach Haleakala visitor center.
A long tiring drive to the
Haleakala summit is also worthy enough, travelers can even opt for guided hikes
to get guidance from experts and experience solitude in picturesque scenery. You
might also spot Hawaiian goose or Nene, and silversword or ahinahina plant
during the trip. There are cabins and campgrounds in the park too where travelers
can camp and have more fun.
