kealia beach

Highlights:
  • Former salt mining spot
  • Paved pathway
  • Great views
Description:

Kealia has a long white sandy beach stretch which is popular for whale watching and beach strolling activities in the cold climate. The beach is also known for water exercises like surfing, and also experiences wind swell and ocean swell. During the calmer climate, visitors can enjoy swimming as well as body boarding on the northern part of the beach. The beach is a half mile long, and 150 ft wide, it is one among the largest beaches of Kauai. The surf looks perfect during summer as the ripetide is silent. But, it is better to be cautious.

It is known that during early times Hawaiian people used to collect salt from the place which was formed on the sandy flat areas. At present, the salt is gathered from dunes beside the highway. Kealia experiences dynamic currents too; people usually come to watch this site in winters. This place can be explored from the coastline while walking or bicycling. The place provides facilities like showers, restrooms and lifeguards to tourists. The water is protective, so swimmers can have a relaxing time in the water. In addition, if you are visiting the beach with your loved one, then you should enjoy the calm climate and tranquil water while walking with your partner, holding hands.
