Description:

Let the Sunrise Tour inspire you. We begin with a spectacular beach sunrise. We pick you up an hour before and drive to a local’s beach for capturing the beauty of splashing waves, tide pools, and the new morning sun. We choose several locations off the well worn travelers path where you can experience authentic Hawaii while capturing the natural beauty of our aina ( land ).

Our Secret Spots include vistas of the 2.5 million year old Koolau Volcanic Mountain range, lush waterfalls, ancient trees, sacred Hawaiian temples, ruins of a royal palace, tropical bamboo forests, and the most beautiful white sand beach on O’ahu.  Our photo road trip includes a stop for a quick breakfast ( no host ) at a local Kailua coffeehouse.

We are local  photographers and naturalists who love photography and sharing the hidden places no one else will take you to. As experienced photography teachers and guides we assist you with pro photo tips whether you are using a mobile phone, point & shoot  or DSLR. Experienced photographers will appreciate all of our unique locations and those who are new to photography will like the simple non-technical hands on approach to learning to take good photos. We are committed to you capturing stunning images.

If you love landscape photography with dramatic magic light this is the tour for you.

There is no other tour on the island like this one. The Sunrise Photo Tour is a great way to start the day. You’ll have photographed unique places that only locals know about on Oahu.

Frequently Asked Questions
Click on the red "Book It" button and you will see live availability. Keep in mind availability changes constantly, so make sure to book in advance!
H Tours Hawaii is a "one stop shop" for all the best activities in the Hawaiian Islands. Since we work with many providers, reservations are necessary. WE HIGHLY recommend making reservations, as many activities are at a discount when you reserve in advance. Some providers even charge higher for those "walking in" because they know chances are you're not going to walk away. Finally, a reservation ensures you have a space on the tour. Trust us you don't want to spend so much time and money to come to Hawaii and then miss out on an activity because they were booked out!
Choose the tour you are interested in, click the red “Book It” button adjacent to the tour information, and complete the booking form.
Most companies, if not all, require you to call them if you're trying to book something 2-3 days in advance. Do you really want to be spending your valuable time in Hawaii calling around to desperately find something that is available to do? While we can usually accommodate most last-minute bookings, we highly encourage those that are checking out our website far in advance to book 2-3 weeks prior to desired date. You never know if there's a convention, special event, or an increase in overall visitors in town, and it would be a shame if the activities that you want to do are sold out because you waited until the last minute. Basically, if you know you want to do it, just book it!
Most companies have a set of centrally located hotels that they do pick ups from. This makes the pickup process short so you can start the tour as soon as possible! When you get to the booking page, select the hotel you are staying at. Your confirmation email will have the pickup location which will either be your hotel, or somewhere within 5 minute walking distance.
Gratuity is never required but if you enjoyed your experience, a tip is always greatly appreciated!
No. All skill levels can enjoy the tours. Each tour is educational and we teach you how to get great photographs with whatever camera you have…even if it’s an iphone, ipad or Android device. Experienced photographers will appreciate the off-the-beaten path locations.
We do have some cameras and lenses available for rent. For more rental options contact Hawaii Camera Rental. They are located close to Waikiki for east pickup or they will FED EX to your hotel for you. It is not necessary to have a camera to enjoy the tours. Many people come with only mobile phones.
We take you to destinations away from the crowds. Your photography guide will take you off the beaten path to beautiful locations. Along the way sharing Hawaiian culture and the history for each site giving you a personal connection and story to accompany your photos. We give personal photography Instruction. At each stop your guide provides expert tips for creating stunning imagery. This workshop-like experience assists you in transforming your photography skills allowing you to capture your own unique images that tell your personal vacation story. Whether you use a DSLR, pocket camera or even an iphone we can assist you in creating beautiful photographs. At the end of your photo tour you will have captured breathtaking photographs that will last a lifetime.
We provide pick-up and drop-off in Waikiki, professional one on one photography instruction, water, tripods, and umbrellas in case it rains.
We will pick you up at the Ala Moana Beach Park. There is free parking. It is the east side of the park near the Marina on Magic Island. When you book your reservation we’ll send you a map.
Sometimes it rains, usually for a short time, but when the sun comes out, that’s when you can catch a rainbow.
We limited our small groups to 7 people. We would like everyone to be comfortable and be able to spread out in our van and also give you personalized attention. Family tours and private tours can have larger groups if needed.

Do this early in your trip!! Worth every penny
Overall:
Five star tour all the way! I joined Marie and a couple others for the sunrise photo tour. Marie picked me up at my hotel at 5:15am and we were at the beach in time for sunrise. Marie provided tripods, photography tips, and lots of information about the island. Not only did she help me ... more
with my camera photography (we worked on HDR shots, aperture priority
mode shots and one waterfall scene playing with shutter speeds). No
matter what level of photography you are at, Marie spends one on one
time with each person on the tour so you can get the help that you need.
She also showed me a few tricks with my camera flash and Iphone HDR for
later use.

This was a phenomenal morning and I would not only
recommend this tour and company, but I would also excitedly go on
another one of their tours myself!

Thank you Blue Hawaii Photo Tours!!! Bravo.

A great way to experience Hawaii!
Overall:
I booked the sunrise photography tour as I am first to admit am not a morning person and thought I need to left my game and experience a beautiful Hawaiiian sunrise whilst on our week long stay. Plus I'm also enjoy photography and wanted to focus on getting some good composition ... more
and lighting into some of my holiday shots.

In the end, 6
friends joined me, and we had a variety of equipment from lens changing
APS cameraa to basic compact camera snd some smartphones. Well I can
honestly say all of us learnt how to better use the equipment at hand
and get far superior photos as a result.

Marie as owner and
teacher was warm and engaging. And she knows her stuff!! Half way along
the road to our first location and it felt like we had been friends for
years. Indeed we loved both Marie's lessons and company that we then
booked her for a full day round island tour the following day!! And she
even treated us with empanadas from Leonard's bakery for breakfast (they
deserve a review all on their own, nom nom nom!!).

Her van was
large and comfortable, tripods and water were provided and the locations
were all stunning and offered a different camera technique...includi
HDR, Slow shutter speed, use of light and depth of field (aperture) and
even tips for using in built functions like oanaroma mode. Marie's
instruction was non technical and easy to understand...so even if you
don't think you are camer savvy enough, don't hesitate and book a Blue
Hawaii Tour...you will love every minute of it. And give Marie a n huge
hug from me and tell her I said Hi!

Overall:
Wonderful tour. Marie showed all the skills for using my camera and my iPhone, as well as the new phone I couldn't work out. She gave a great history of the island and it was very enjoyable to spend a few hours with hour travelling across the island for a sunrise tour. Would thoroughly recommend.

Sunrise tour
Overall:
I took the sunrise tour with Marie, and had a great time! I was the only one who signed up, but she still ran it regardless - which was fantastic (and meant a private tour for me!). We went to some absolutely beautiful locations that are a bit off the beaten path, and make for ... more
some great photos. She is very friendly and fun to talk with. She also
knows a great deal about photography and is able to share that
experience well, and is very knowledgeable about Hawaii and its history.
I would highly recommend a tour with her.
