Hilo Waterfalls Small Group Tour: Burgers, Waipio Overlook, Waterfalls, Saddle Road
Food ‘n’ Falls
A delicious way to spend a day in Hawaii! Waterfalls, a burger, incredible views, education, and fun! The luscious countryside stretches before us as we head to Waimea and one of the most amazing burger joints in America! Local beef, veggies, and buns start our day the right way. Not a meat eater? We get it, there are some yummy vegetarian options (gluten free options too) like a mushroom burger or taro burger.
The beautiful views of Waipio valley from the overlook are next. Get ready for some interesting stories about the history of this valley. Sample some portuguese donuts (Malasadas) and continue to Akaka falls to see a towering waterfall cascading into a deep pool. Your guide will point out native and non-native plants on your short walk (20 min).
Let’s stop at a fruit stand to try some local fruit that are in season like apple banana, lychee, rambutan and white pineapple to name a few. Our last waterfall of the day is the picturesque Rainbow falls! We will walk (5 min) to one of the largest Banyan trees on the island. A scenic drive to Liliuokalani Gardens and Moku Ola (Coconut Island) will be a great way to finish our visit in Hilo.
We travel back to the west side of the island on the famous Saddle Road (Daniel K. Inouye Hwy) that climbs up to a high lava desert at 6,600 ft and cuts between the 2 largest volcanoes in Hawaii (Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea). At higher elevations we are able to see colder climate zones and vast native Ohia forests. Your guide will bring you to your accommodation where you will have time to go to dinner, a luau, or get ready for your flight. A fun and educational adventure in Paradise.
