Description:

Get away from it all.  See the island like you’ve never seen it before.  Adventure awaits you on the Island Tour. We explore and photograph Oahu’s natural beauty, wildlife and sites of historic and cultural significance. For those who are early birds, we offer a sunrise option of this tour as well!

This is the “No-Rush” day tour. We photograph sweeping coastal vistas, pristine beaches, sacred heiaus, flowing waterfalls, dramatic mountain valleys, the spiritual center of O’ahu, and in the winter…fearless surfers.

Good chances to see and photograph the Hawaiian monk seal or Green Sea turtle along the way. We are volunteers for Malama na Honu at Laniakea Beach where we monitor the turtles as they come on the beach, educate the public about the turtles, and protect them.

We have secured a new secret location that no other tour has access to. In addition to going to off-the-beaten path locations we talk about Hawaii’s history and culture…this is a full island tour and photo tour combined.

We stop for lunch – a taste of local flavors on North Shore. ( Lunch not included in tour price )

At the end of your day you’ll walk away with stunning images of the islands’ beauty, professional photography tips, and an appreciation of Oahu’s rich culture and history.

There is no other tour on the island like this one. The Island Tour delivers a full relaxing day of discovery, image making and fun.

We are local  photographers and naturalists who love photography and sharing the hidden places no one else will take you to. As experienced photography teachers and guides we assist you with pro photo tips whether you are using a mobile phone, pocket camera or DSLR. Experienced photographers will appreciate all of our unique locations and those who are new to photography will like the simple non-technical hands on approach to learning to take photos. We are committed to you capturing stunning images.

During the winter months ( November thru March ) we go to the top surfing spots to photograph surfers and the big waves they ride.

Frequently Asked Questions
Click on the red "Book It" button and you will see live availability. Keep in mind availability changes constantly, so make sure to book in advance!
H Tours Hawaii is a "one stop shop" for all the best activities in the Hawaiian Islands. Since we work with many providers, reservations are necessary. WE HIGHLY recommend making reservations, as many activities are at a discount when you reserve in advance. Some providers even charge higher for those "walking in" because they know chances are you're not going to walk away. Finally, a reservation ensures you have a space on the tour. Trust us you don't want to spend so much time and money to come to Hawaii and then miss out on an activity because they were booked out!
Choose the tour you are interested in, click the red “Book It” button adjacent to the tour information, and complete the booking form.
Most companies, if not all, require you to call them if you're trying to book something 2-3 days in advance. Do you really want to be spending your valuable time in Hawaii calling around to desperately find something that is available to do? While we can usually accommodate most last-minute bookings, we highly encourage those that are checking out our website far in advance to book 2-3 weeks prior to desired date. You never know if there's a convention, special event, or an increase in overall visitors in town, and it would be a shame if the activities that you want to do are sold out because you waited until the last minute. Basically, if you know you want to do it, just book it!
Most companies have a set of centrally located hotels that they do pick ups from. This makes the pickup process short so you can start the tour as soon as possible! When you get to the booking page, select the hotel you are staying at. Your confirmation email will have the pickup location which will either be your hotel, or somewhere within 5 minute walking distance.
Gratuity is never required but if you enjoyed your experience, a tip is always greatly appreciated!
No. All skill levels can enjoy the tours. Each tour is educational and we teach you how to get great photographs with whatever camera you have…even if it’s an iphone, ipad or Android device. Experienced photographers will appreciate the off-the-beaten path locations.
We do have some cameras and lenses available for rent. For more rental options contact Hawaii Camera Rental. They are located close to Waikiki for east pickup or they will FED EX to your hotel for you. It is not necessary to have a camera to enjoy the tours. Many people come with only mobile phones.
We take you to destinations away from the crowds. Your photography guide will take you off the beaten path to beautiful locations. Along the way sharing Hawaiian culture and the history for each site giving you a personal connection and story to accompany your photos. We give personal photography Instruction. At each stop your guide provides expert tips for creating stunning imagery. This workshop-like experience assists you in transforming your photography skills allowing you to capture your own unique images that tell your personal vacation story. Whether you use a DSLR, pocket camera or even an iphone we can assist you in creating beautiful photographs. At the end of your photo tour you will have captured breathtaking photographs that will last a lifetime.
We provide pick-up and drop-off in Waikiki, professional one on one photography instruction, water, tripods, and umbrellas in case it rains.
We will pick you up at the Ala Moana Beach Park. There is free parking. It is the east side of the park near the Marina on Magic Island. When you book your reservation we’ll send you a map.
Sometimes it rains, usually for a short time, but when the sun comes out, that’s when you can catch a rainbow.
We limited our small groups to 7 people. We would like everyone to be comfortable and be able to spread out in our van and also give you personalized attention. Family tours and private tours can have larger groups if needed.

Island Photo Tour
Overall:
My husband and I signed up for this tour and Marie, the owner, drove us to places on Oahu that we had never before seen before, even though we had visited the island many times! She picked us up at our hotel, took us to a wonderful place for lunch and brought us back to the hotel. We ... more
learned many new photo tips, got some fabulous photos of the scenery and
of each other and had a lot of fun . We highly recommend this tour!!

A great day outing
Overall:
I booked the island tour with Marie both to have the chance to get some good photographs of Hawaii as well as an opportunity to see parts of the island that I wouldn't otherwise get to see. The tour was fun and informative and the photo opportunities plentiful and unique. I highly ... more

A great way to see Oahu!
Overall:
I had only a few days to visit Oahu and was looking for a way to see the island. Blue Hawaii Photo Tours offered a great tour, welcoming and knowledgeable hosts, and a highly enjoyable experience. The Hosts Marie and Jim are great! They seem to have a genuine interest in you and your ... more
photography. They are knowledgeable photographers and more than happy
to share that knowledge. Of course, if you just want to do your own
thing, they are happy to let you do so. The instruction is there if you
want it, but it is not forced on you. They are happy to help however
they can, regardless of your skill level or the type of camera you have.

The Tour
I
signed up for the Island Tour. It required an early start! We met at
5:15AM and then drove to Sandy Beach as the sun was rising. We made
about six more stops at different beaches, a small waterfall, and at
other interesting sites. Perhaps it was the early hour, but there were
very few other people present at these locations. The amount of time at
each location seemed perfect for me. I tend to take a lot of pictures,
adjust settings, and then take a lot more. And even with this approach, I
had sufficient time to get all the pictures I wanted.

The Value
I
thought this tour was a great value considering the guide-to-guest
ratio, the duration of the trip, and the amount of ground we covered.
