Description:

This active tour is for the fast and light enthusiast.

Day one: We begin the tour at one of the best places to snorkel in Hawaii. The marine life is abundant at this first stop on the tour. We head south to tour a Kona coffee farm with samples of gourmet Kona coffee. Punalu’u Beach Park is next with turtles basking on a black sand beach and hiking to an ancient Hawaiian heiau (temple). We then drive to Volcanoes National Park. The views are the most spectacular at night when we visit Halema’uma’u (lava lake) where Pele lives . Camping inside of Volcanoes national park under a blanket of stars will finish this perfect day.

Day two: After breakfast we learn about Hawaiian culture and connection to the new land and lava. Get out the flashlight for Thurston Lava Tube to see how lava creates a cave. In Hilo we will see the stone that changed the history of these islands and the destiny of one of the greatest Hawaiian kings. A hike to Rainbow falls look outs and then on to boiling pots before hiking in the rain forest on the wet side of the island. Back on the dry side of the island we will be swimming in the ocean at a white sand beach.

Getting there: We will pick you up at Kona International Airport or at our office in Kona.

Frequently Asked Questions
The best way to find out is to make a request. Availability here changes constantly. We can tell you something is available and then 5 minutes later someone else books and its not available anymore. If you make a request and your activity is not available, then you will not be charged. No hassles, no worries!
H Tours Hawaii is a "one stop shop" for all the best activities in the Hawaiian Islands. Since we work with many providers, reservations are necessary. WE HIGHLY recommend making reservations, as many activities are at a discount when you reserve in advance. Some providers even charge higher for those "walking in" because they know chances are you're not going to walk away. Finally, a reservation ensures you have a space on the tour. Trust us you don't want to spend aso much time and money to come to Hawaii and then miss out on an activity because they were booked out!
Choose the tour you are interested in, click the red “Book It” button adjacent to the tour information, and complete the booking form.
While we can usually accommodate most last-minute bookings, we highly encourage those that are checking out our website far in advance to book 2-3 weeks prior to desired date. You never know if there's a convention, special event, or an increase in overall visitors in town, and it would be a shame if the activities that you want to do are sold out because you waited until the last minute. Basically, if you know you want to do it, just book it!
Most companies have a set of centrally located hotels that they do pick ups from. This makes the pickup process short so you can start the tour as soon as possible!
Gratuity is never required but if you enjoyed your experience, a tip is always greatly appreciated!

Great few days discovering the big island
Overall:
The trip was a rushed two days, the four days would have been better (scheduling meant the two day was the only option). Katie the guide took us to some fantastic spots, explained a lot about the island, its history and the local culture. Eating was well looked after, including a couple of snacks I had not heard of. Camping equipment was great. The night time walk to look at a glowing red lava pool ... morein a volcano was probably the highlight. The tour was also flexible to mould to the participants requests too, which I thought was a great step away from the generic bus tour that takes you to stop A, then B, then C, regardless of what you want. Already planning a return next year, which will most likely include a 4 day hike, and maybe up to the top of Mauna Kea to look at the observatories.

Overall:
Dominic was a great guide. We are novice snorkelers and he was extremely helpful. We have snorkeled in Maui and Costa Rica but have never seen the variety nor colorful ness of fish on other adventures. It was good hearing and seeing thru illustrations the fish we would be seeing as he prepped us for our swim. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

Fantastic two day tour
Overall:
Katie was a great guide for our two day tour. Food and logistics were tailored to our needs, and Katie provided lots of interesting history and insights. The snorkeling, camping, coffee farm tour, and hiking were fantastic, and Katie was even able to squeeze in a special-request side excursion to the Keck Observatory Visitor Center.Don't miss the banyan tree! Katie knows what I'm talking about.Five ... morestar operation. I would recommend to anyone who wants an active and fun tour of the big island with a very friendly and prepared guide.
