Treat yourself to a first-class ECO Adventure over the Garden Isle of Kauai in the incredible new American Eurocopter ECO-Star. This state-of-the-art marvel gives you 23% more interior room, individual Business Class style seats, two-way communication with your pilot, and expansive glass for outstanding sweeping views of Kauai's incomparable natural beauty.

Your journey begins with a flight to spectacular Hanapepe Valley, then continues on to Mana Waiapuna, commonly referred to as "Jurassic Park Falls." Next it's up the Olokele Canyon before moving on to eye-popping Waimea Canyon, the famed "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" where you'll explore many hidden waterfalls. Then, the sculptural masterpiece of the Na Pali Coast gives way to the Bali Hai Cliffs, and the pristine blue waters of Hanalei Bay and the Princeville Resort area. Weather permitting, we'll visit Mt Waialeale, the heart of the ancient volcano. This is the wettest spot on earth, with an average rainfall of 450-500 inches annually! Flying into the center of the crater with its 5000-foot walls towering above and its 3000-foot waterfalls surrounding you, is a truly awe-inspiring finish to your ECO Adventure over the Garden Isle. Although tour routes and sights visited may vary according to wind and weather conditions there is no finer Kauai Helicopter Tour available.

Sculpted by nature for six million years, Kauai’s legendary beauty is epitomized by the Na Pali Coast – 14 miles of sea cliffs ascending 3,000 feet above untamed shoreline, with sheer-walled valleys and cascading waterfalls—and sensational Waimea Canyon, the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific.” Most of Kauai’s awe-inspiring sights are inaccessible from the ground and can only be seen by helicopter, yet not all helicopters are equal. To truly appreciate Kauai’s epic beauty, you have to experience it aboard a Blue Hawaiian Eco-Star.

H Tours Hawaii is a "one stop shop" for all the best activities in the Hawaiian Islands. Since we work with many providers, reservations are necessary. WE HIGHLY recommend making reservations, as many activities are at a discount when you reserve in advance. Some providers even charge higher for those "walking in" because they know chances are you're not going to walk away. Finally, a reservation ensures you have a space on the tour. Trust us you don't want to spend so much time and money to come to Hawaii and then miss out on an activity because they were booked out!
Every flight is captured on a high quality DVD. Each helicopter is equipped with four cameras; three external and one in the cabin. The video recording begins during the boarding process. On the video, you'll most likely first see yourself as you approach the aircraft for boarding. To orchestrate the most interesting video, the pilot chooses between the forward, side or internal camera as the flight progresses. The cabin camera, for example, usually shows you right after lift-off as it is so much fun to capture our guests’ expressions of amazement. The recording is continuous until landing and includes digital quality music chosen to complement the changing scenery, plus all the pilot's narration. The video is available for purchase right after you return from your flight.
Our helicopters are temperature-controlled so dress comfortably but wear dark clothing to minimize any window reflections. If your flight includes a landing at higher elevations, bring a sweater in case it's chilly. Hats are not allowed to be worn around the helicopters as they can fly up into the rotors and damage the aircraft. We will be happy to hold any hats for you until you return from your tour.
If you are particularly prone to motion sickness, taking a precautionary anti-motion sickness medication is a good idea. However, our flights are very smooth and turns are slow and gentle. This is a professional scenic tour, not a thrill ride. Most people do not experience motion sickness and do not need an anti-motion sickness medication.
We suggest that you book your helicopter flight prior to arrival in Hawaii. This assures you of a tour time that fits into your vacation plans. It’s also wise to book your tour for the early part of your stay. That way if your pilot determines that weather conditions on a particular day are not optimal for a tour, you will have some options for re-scheduling. As far as the best time of day for a helicopter tour, you should primarily consider your personal schedule. Most of the time we are blessed with beautiful weather in Hawaii and the time of day, whether it be morning or afternoon, will make no difference. If we happen to have a rainy weather pattern the pilot will consult weather reports and other pilots who have been flying to determine if we can operate a good tour. Blue Hawaiian does not want to take our guests on a flight unless we are reasonably certain we can give you an excellent experience.
All pilots for Blue Hawaiian Helicopters are highly experienced. In fact, we believe that this is the most experienced group of helicopter tour pilots anywhere in the world, and each of them is required to obtain certification as a State of Hawaii Tour Guide. Furthermore, Blue Hawaiian is the only helicopter tour company in Hawaii with its own state-of-the-art Flight Simulator, and the only one that puts its pilots through annual factory and FAA recurrent training.
The company began on the island of Kauai in 1982, with the name South Sea Helicopters. Blue Hawaiian CEO David Chevalier was flying tours for South Sea when their Maui branch was put up for sale in 1985. Dave and his wife Patti risked everything to buy the company, changing its name to Blue Hawaiian Helicopters in 1989. Blue is now the largest, most successful, and most honored helicopter tour operator in the State of Hawaii, with bases on Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and in both Hilo and Waikoloa on the Big Island
Your only chance of seeing flowing lava is on the Big Island of Hawaii during that portion of your flight over Volcanoes National Park. Odds are good that you will see flowing lava but no particular sight can be guaranteed. Routes and times vary with wind and weather, and volcanic activity changes hourly.
Unless you charter the complete helicopter you will be sharing the flight with other guests. We try to seat couples and families side-by-side as much as possible. We cannot guarantee particular seating as it is often dictated by our FAA approved “weight and balance” program. However, visibility from every seat is excellent in both our A-Stars and Eco-Stars, since there are no cabin partitions that would block part of the view as is the case on other types of helicopters. Please note: tours from Maui, Waikoloa and Hilo operate with both A-Stars and Eco-Stars; tours from Kauai and Oahu utilize the Eco-Star exclusively.
The points of interest mentioned in our tour descriptions are highlights of the tour, which we always do our best to show you depending on wind and weather. On the Big Island, areas of volcanic activity are constantly shifting, as are the areas of waterfalls on every island. Each tour is unique in that we'll show you the best currently available scenery while also trying to accommodate all of your special requests within the generally allotted time.
A Federal Aviation Administration altitude restriction of 1500 feet has been in effect since 1994 with deviations to 500 ft. on each major Hawaiian Island. Virtually all helicopter operators in Hawaii share the same deviation authority from the FAA to fly as low as 500 feet in the tour areas.
Always keep in mind that air tour flights are highly subject to changing weather conditions. You take considerable expense of your time and airfare to travel to a different island and your tour could get cancelled due to weather. We strongly urge you to consider this risk when making the commitment to travel to a different island for an air tour.
Choose the tour you are interested in, click the red “Book It” button adjacent to the tour information, and complete the booking form.
Most companies, if not all, require you to call them if you're trying to book something 2-3 days in advance. Do you really want to be spending your valuable time in Hawaii calling around to desperately find something that is available to do? While we can usually accommodate most last-minute bookings, we highly encourage those that are checking out our website far in advance to book 2-3 weeks prior to desired date. You never know if there's a convention, special event, or an increase in overall visitors in town, and it would be a shame if the activities that you want to do are sold out because you waited until the last minute. Basically, if you know you want to do it, just book it!
Gratuity is never required but if you enjoyed your experience, a tip is always greatly appreciated!

Was the tour accurately described on the webiste? In other words did it meet your expectations?
(5.0 of 5)
Absolutely the best experience and highlight of our vacation. Yes it is pricey but like everyone else has said, it is worth every single penny so save up. As for the tour you will first get weighed once again once you enter the building just so they can verify that you aren't lying on their website lol. But only the person behind the counter will know and frankly I don't think they care, it is purely ... morefor seating reasons.

Please wear dark colored clothing or else you will wear one of their shirts and although they are nice, you will have a picture next to the helicopter in that shirt. You have been warned. Greg our pilot did an amazing job flying the helicopter and giving us all he could in terms of describing the island and giving advice on what to do and where to go. The tour was probably 50 min but I didn't pay attention to the time cause the views were amazing! It was enough time I'm sure of that. Apparently Mark Zuckerberg has a house in Kauai that our pilot pointed out that is worth hundreds of millions!!!! Our pilot gave us views that were like you were in a movie!

Definitely make sure to have enough space on your phone or go pro camera to take pictures because you will be snapping away like there's no tomorrow. I don't think big cameras are allowed but they provide free lockers for storage.

Mahalo once again for an amazing experience Greg and the entire staff of blue Hawaiian helicopter tours in Kauai!!! Enjoy
My favorite activity in Kauai; this is truly the best way to see the island! Barron was a fantastic pilot, he gave great commentary throughout our 55 minute flight, the background music in our headphones between his commentary was thoroughly enjoyable (I wouldn't mind picking up a CD with all the tunes the Blue Hawaiian plays)! The ground staff were super friendly, patient, and clear with their instructions. ... more

Blue Hawaiian did everything to ensure a professional, comfortable, and enjoyable experience, starting from an organized check-in to an exhilarating landing.

I highly recommend the Blue Hawaiian for the adventurers amongst you! :D
The most thrilling and amazing experience! The views are spectacular and many you can't see by land. The company is professional and weighs each person to ensure equal weight which I appreciate. It was a little difficult hearing our tour guide but mainly due to the fact that it poured rain and the helicopter was shaking and noisy due to rain. Highly recommended and I tell everyone I know to use this ... morecompany. They also do a video of you in the helicopter which we were suckers and bought it.
Although this activity isn't cheap, Blue Hawaiian's prices are competitive, and the experience was completely worth it to me - it even exceeded my expectations. Everything was seamless and well-organized, from the check-in process to the safety presentation to the procedures for getting on the helicopter. Our pilot, Greg, was very warm and friendly and clearly experienced (nearly 8,000 hours in the ... moreair!). Though his voice was calm, he showed great enthusiasm for the beautiful island of Kauai. It was a nice touch that he referred to each of us by name, got to know us a bit, and made sure to include each of us at some point during the tour (for example, "Tiffany, below you can see your hotel as we fly over Princeville").

Although the service was top notch, what really blew me away was the scenery. The angularity of the mountains, the colors of Waimea canyon, the numerous waterfalls... I just couldn't believe how beautiful it was. It also struck me how undeveloped Kauai is, so I felt so fortunate to see these gorgeous places that you can't easily access any other way. Greg also played some music during the tour, and I have to say that seeing 400-foot waterfalls while listening to "Only Time" by Enya made for a pretty dramatic experience!

There were cameras inside and outside the helicopter recording the whole tour (including Greg's narration and the questions asked by the guests), and when we saw the preview of the video, the quality was really fantastic. I decided I was too cheap to purchase it, and I had taken a lot of photo and video myself (on my admittedly less fancy camera), but I do feel like it would be a great memento.

Last note - I get carsick and seasick so I was pretty nervous about the helicopter ride. They do make helpful suggestions, like taking off jackets, since staying cool helps avoid nausea. I had taken some antinausea medications before the tour and I ended up being just fine :)

I actually would love to do this again next time I'm in Kauai! The memories, pictures, and video don't compare to the experience and how incredible it feels in that moment!
