Frequently Asked Questions
While we can usually accommodate most last-minute bookings, we highly encourage those that are checking out our website far in advance to book 2-3 weeks prior to desired date. You never know if there's a convention, special event, or a increase in overall visitors in town, and it would be a shame if the activities that you want to do are sold out because you waited until the last minute. Basically, if you know you want to do it, just book it!
Most companies have a set of centrally located hotels that they do pick ups from. Since Waikiki is a very small area, if they do not pick up at your hotel, it will be from another one that will be a 3-5 minute walk. This makes the pickup process short so you can start the tour as soon as possible!
We take great pride into making your experience with us perfect. From the moment you begin considering Discover Hawaii Tours to your final drop-off with our tour guides, we go to great lengths to make sure your day is worry-free and that you get to experience the best of Hawaii. Our tours operate in smaller buses, allowing for more stops, getting you closer to the best spots, and giving you a more intimate experience.
Our tours are conducted in 25-passenger mini-coach tour buses with Discover Hawaii Tours logos on the sides. Our friendly expert guides are dressed in red polo-style shirts with our logo and black slacks.
Founded in 1995, we have been operating without causality or major accident for more than 15 years. Your safety, satisfaction, and input is a way of life for our company.
During the booking process online, there is a ‘Message’ box where you can let us know of any food allergies (when lunch is included), special occasions, requests, and any other important information that you feel is necessary. We take your tour personally, so rest assured that we will do our best to make sure that your requests are met and your tour is a perfect experience.
Our tour guides are our main assets to us, and you. After completing an intense 2 week training course in driving safety, Hawaiian culture, United States and Hawaiian History, customer service, and First Aid and CPR training, they become Hawaii's Ambassadors of Aloha.
Yes! We carry Commercial Use Authorization for all of our Pearl Harbor Tours, which allows our tour guides to enter Pearl Harbor’s Museums, are an authorized transportation company for Pearl Harbor, and are allowed to transport our guests to Ford Island. Additionally, we are an Authorized Transportation provider for Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and conduct tours to the world’s most active volcano, Mt. Kilauea.
Yes, all of our short tours stop for snacks and half-day and full-day Circle Island Tours include lunch. Don’t worry, you will have time to feed your baby. For those tours with lunch, we proudly feature options that are prepared fresh daily from local ingredients by an exclusive provider, these tours stop at a secluded beach to rest and enjoy your meal.
At this time, our vehicles can accommodate collapsible wheelchairs only. We do not have a wheelchair lift. We ask that you let us know at the time of booking your tour that you will be traveling with a collapsible wheelchair so that we are able to make sure you are fully accommodated.
We do not provide or rent car seats at this time and the law does not require car seats on tour buses. If you wish to bring one, you will have to pay the cost for the seat on tour.
Yes, we have scheduled bathroom stops along the routes that coincide with scenic lookouts, beaches, and other stops and attractions throughout your tour. Should you require additional stops please let your tour guide know at the beginning of the tour and we will be more than happy to accommodate your request.
For your safety, please check with your doctor and find out if there are any limitations to your touring. Some sites have more medical concerns than others, like the Volcano on the Big Island, so be sure to find out of any restrictions you may have and we need to be aware of.
Yes, we have been working successfully with travelers of all ages since our inception and we wouldn't have it any other way! We do ask parents to keep their children under control at all times for the child’s safety and the enjoyment of others. Hiking tours are not recommended for infants, toddlers, and seniors who may have trouble climbing uneven terrain.
Yes, admission to Pearl Harbor is free. As is the film about the Pearl Harbor attack and the boat ride to the USS Arizona Memorial. Our tours consist of much more than that. Besides the transportation, your tour includes a narrated drive from Waikiki to Pearl Harbor with a professional guide. Both the guide and narration enhance your experience at Pearl Harbor and the round-trip transportation saves the headaches of driving and finding parking (the parking lot is currently under construction) When you’re unfamiliar with an area, it can be difficult to navigate the roads and highways. Following your program at the World War II Valor in the Pacific National Park, your guide takes you to many places that you may not get to see on your own. Imagine that you are driving through downtown Honolulu, and you pass the beautiful Iolani Palace, not knowing what it is you’re seeing, or the history of the treasured palace. With your friendly guide, you will know exactly what you’re seeing, its history, and maybe even an inside fact or two.

We enjoyed this tour a lot. Kona was our guide, and he was wonderful; both knowledgable and fun. I'm glad we got to see the Arizona Memorial, the swap meet, and then got a tour of some main points in Honolulu, like Punch Bowl Crater and the Palace (just a quick stop). I would have wished for more time at the Pearl Harbor park after the Arizona Memorial. We only had 20 minutes to look around, go to ... morethe gift shop and get ready for the next segment. I'd have gladly given up some of the swap meet time in exchange for that. The swap meet was a fun place to wander and get some affordable souvenirs, drink straight from a coconut, etc. The tour was a little longer than the time listed, as others have said. I think we got back to our hotel by about 2:15 or 2:30.

We went on this tour as we wanted to see Pearl Harbor but did not want to spend a great deal on money on the more elaborate tours, and we also greatly liked the idea of being taken to the flea market which is something we probably wouldn't have done if it was not wrapped up in this tour. We were picked up on time by a very nice tour guide who filled us in on a lot of history during the 2025 minute ... moredrive over. Buses were comfortable. We REALLY appreciated that discover hawaii tour guides stand out with their black pants and red shirts with CLEARLY labeled buses. Man eventually all these guides in hawaiian shirts really start to blend in to one another We were handed off to a different tour guide for the flea market part but our first guide helped make that transition smooth and was so kind as to give us flea market advice even though he wasn't the one taking us Our guides were Jonathon and Jessie, we really enjoyed both and I think this was a good tour for the price and value and we loved all the interactions we had with ALL discover hawaii tours employees. You cant go wrong with this company

I did the Arizona Memorial and the Flea Market It was such an amazing day thanks to our tour guide Johnathon. He truly was an expert and helped with guiding us through our day. He gave the best advice on how to get the best seats for the video and where to go to take great pictures. He also is hilarious which made the ride to Pearl Harbor/Flea Market even more enjoyable. Extremely friendly and I am ... moreso glad that we signed up to go to these places.
