Covering an area of more than 4,000 acres, Kualoa Ranch located on Oahu's windward coast in close proximity to the town of Ka'a'awa. The area offers very scenic views. The majestic ... morecliffs and spires of the Kualoa Mountains, an ancient fishponds on the south side of the ranch, lush greenery, fantastic views of Chinaman's Hat, all set the backdrop of the ranch. The beautiful scenery is also the reason why the ranch has been the location where many movies have been filmed in the past including Jurassic Park, Godzilla an 50 First Dates. Many activities and educational programs are also undertaken at the ranch. Horseback rides, ATV (all-terrain vehicle tours), movie tours, Jungle expedition, Hawaiian Fishpond and Garden tour, hula lessons and snorkeling excursion are just some of the many activities and programs undertaken at the ranch. It is possible to find different packages depending on the activity. Kualoa Ranch is located in the Kualoa Valley. The history of the valley is very interesting. The land sold in 1850 by King Kamehameha III to Dr Gerrit P Judd and his brother-in-law who started a sugar mill. The area was taken by the military in 1941 and built the Kualoa Airfield. The area is today under the Morgan family name who are Dr Judd's descendants. The name of the ranch was given in 1927. In Hawaiian, the name means "long back" which describes the ranch beautiful valley and mountain peaks. There are also lots of legends and myths that surround the Kualoa Valley. For example, it is believed that the ranch's Moli'i fishpond had been built by Menehune, a legendary little people of Hawaii in just one night. You can also embark on a legend and legacy tour. The tour takes visitors through the foothills of the majestic Kualoa cliffs while the guide explains the legends and stories of the area. The Kualoa Ranch is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Ka’a’awa, known as the Backlot of Hawaii, is a small town on the east coast of Koolauloa. The word Ka’a’awa in the Hawaiian language means “The yellow Wrasse fish. A’awa is the name ... moreof the yellow wrasses fish, which are quite a common breed of fish in the reefs of Hawaii. Since there are okinas (the apostrophe-like symbol) present between the vowels of the a’s of the name, each a of the three a’s that are together must be pronounced separately.
There are many notable attractions in Ka’a’awa. There is a beach park called Ka’a’awa Beach park, which is fronted by a broad fringing reef, which are perfect for those walks on the beach you’ve always dreamed about. There is another beach park called “Swanzy Beach Park” to the north. The Ka’a’awa Valley, which extends inland and is part of Kualoa Ranch, is a great attraction of Ka’a’awa. Kamehameha Highway goes right through Ka’a’awa. In the 2010 Census, it was found that the population of Ka’a’awa was 1,379 people on the 1.3 sq. Miles of territory (including water covered area), which gave a population density of about 1,100 people per sq. Mile. The Zip Code 96730 is used for Ka’a’awa.
It is one of the most filmed locations in all of the state of Hawaii, in which movies like Godzilla, 50 First Dates, Jurassic Park, George of the Jungle and even Pearl Harbor were filmed here. Scenes from the TV Series “Lost” were also shot here.

Kane'ohe Bay is a sheltered body of water in the mainland Hawaiian island. It is located on the windward, northwest coast of Oahu. About 8 miles (12.8km), it's a reef-dominated embayment ... morethat provides a spectacular view and lots of recreational features. Visitors come to the sandbar island by boat. It is often not crowded. At the backdrop, the Ko'olau Mountains and Chinaman's hat offers picture perfect opportunity. The water is warm and very clear, there are also no waves. The area is great for kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling or just enjoy the sand and coral beach. Several beaches surround the area, you can find a nice cozy spot where you have all the privacy you want and enjoy the serenity. Many local residents with boats find the location also as the perfect place for having a barbecue.
Kane'ohe Bay consist of five islets, the sandbar (Ahu o Laka), Kekepa (Turtleback rock), Kapapa, are islets on the reef barrier. Two prominent islands are found within Kane'ohe Bay, Mokoli'i (Chinaman's hat) and Moku o Lo'e (coconut island). Dozen of popular and TV series had been made in the Bay, Pearl Harbor and Gilligan's island and 50 first date are among the most. The location was also chosen by the Hawaiian Chief to build their sacred fishponds. The sandbar in Kane'ohe Bay appears during low tide and during high tides it is completely submerged under water.
Kane'ohe Bay is also a breeding ground for hammerhead sharks. Thousands are born on the island every year, marine scientists from all over the world come to the bay to study the sharks who spend their first few months in the shallow waters before swimming out to deeper waters. The sharks can grow to a length of 13 feet. Turtles can also be seen swimming near the bay.
Kane'ohe Bay does is not ideal for swimming, the bay is mostly visited for the extraordinary view and for relaxing. The bay is protected from the strong trade winds induced waves by a large barrier reef. The result is that the conditions make it perfect for the growth of patch reefs and fringe reefs throughout the bay. There are no facilities in the islets, but the beaches on the main islands, Mokoli'i and Coconut island, there can be found a few facilities such as showers, picnic tables.
