Hanalei Bay is one of the largest bays of Kauai, it is
surrounded by white sandy beach which stretches 2 miles long and about 125 feet
wide. The bay is nestled between the Waipa river ... morein west to the Hanalei river in east. Three
rivers, namely Wai’oli, Waipa and Hanalei cross over the beach by mixing the
stream into the beach. The beach looks clean every time, filled with white sand. The
bottom of the ocean slides into the depth of waters. You can find huge coral
reefs at the end of Hanalei Bay, Waikoko reef in west and Pu’u Poa reef in
east. In the center, however you can the find small patch reefs. Besides beauty, the bay provides every recreational activity
that you can enjoy, right from boating and fishing to windsurfing. When the
surf is high, don’t get involved into bodyboarding or surfing; however you can
enjoy kayaking in the fields along Hanalei River. As every Hawaiian location has
a meaning, Hanalei literary got its name from the meaning lei shaped bay. The beach
is not just preferred by visitors, even the locals like to hang around here. To get
the striking view of the beach, you can go to Princeville Hotel which is situated
on the east side of the place.

- Wildest reef
- Adventurous place
- Interesting aspects
Protected by the world’s widest reef and situated in the
Northern shore of Kauai, the original name of the beach was Wanini. However ‘W’
fell off the board and instead of fixing the ... moreboard, the name was changed to
Anini Beach Park. Equipped with facilities like restroom, bathroom and parking,
the beach is ideal for a number of activities which include snorkeling, wind
surfing, swimming, camping and paddle boarding.
No matter what your motive of the trip was, at the Anini
Beach Park you can fulfill all your plans. For people who are looking forward
to spend some time with friends and family then camping or going for fishing might
be the right choice. There is a special permit that you will require if you are
planning for camping.
For people who are looking for a more adventurous trip
might be interested in wind surfing, snorkeling and swimming. However, there are
dangers involved too, especially if the currents are too high. If you are planning
to go with your family, then you can let your child roam around the beach
without worrying as the beach is very shallow and safe. However, this can also
be a disappointment for the typical beach going people.

- An Exciting Hike
- A Cool Dip in the Waterfall's Pool
- Great Photo Opportunities
Opaekaa Falls is one of the best-known waterfalls in Kauai.
It’s viewed as the lookout off of Kuamoo Road, but it’s a difficult hike to get
to the top and the pool. If you want to ... moresee it up close, follow the trailhead
to the top to a 2-mile marker. This trip is very difficult but considered well worth it by
many people who have gone there. Be careful because the trail is often found to
be muddy and it takes about a half hour. The view of Opaekaa Falls is nothing
short of stunning with its tropical rainforest surroundings and various
photographic opportunities. Most people will only go as far as the highway lookout, so
you’ll find a trip there to usually be rather quiet and peaceful. Named after “rolling
shrimp” in the Hawaiian language this waterfall used to have a large amount of
shrimp in its stream and pool. You won’t find many of them their now, sadly. Despite the trick access, this hike is a strenuous one that
is great for groups and well worth it when you spend a few hours to a day
taking a dip in this grand geographical feature.
