Frequently Asked Questions
No, these are A/C deluxe mini-coach buses with large viewing windows.
While we can usually accommodate most last-minute bookings, we highly encourage those that are checking out our website far in advance to book 2-3 weeks prior to desired date. You never know if there's a convention, special event, or a increase in overall visitors in town, and it would be a shame if the activities that you want to do are sold out because you waited until the last minute. Basically, if you know you want to do it, just book it!
Most companies have a set of centrally located hotels that they do pick ups from. This makes the pickup process short so you can start the tour as soon as possible!
We take great pride into making your experience with us perfect. From the moment you begin considering Discover Hawaii Tours to your final drop-off with our tour guides, we go to great lengths to make sure your day is worry-free and that you get to experience the best of Hawaii. Our tours operate in smaller buses, allowing for more stops, getting you closer to the best spots, and giving you a more intimate experience.
Our tours are conducted in 25-passenger mini-coach tour buses with Discover Hawaii Tours logos on the sides. Our friendly expert guides are dressed in red polo-style shirts with our logo and black slacks.
Founded in 1995, we have been operating without causality or major accident for more than 15 years. Your safety, satisfaction, and input is a way of life for our company.
During the booking process online, there is a ‘Message’ box where you can let us know of any food allergies (when lunch is included), special occasions, requests, and any other important information that you feel is necessary. We take your tour personally, so rest assured that we will do our best to make sure that your requests are met and your tour is a perfect experience.
Our tour guides are our main assets to us, and you. After completing an intense 2 week training course in driving safety, Hawaiian culture, United States and Hawaiian History, customer service, and First Aid and CPR training, they become Hawaii's Ambassadors of Aloha.
At this time, our vehicles can accommodate collapsible wheelchairs only. We do not have a wheelchair lift. We ask that you let us know at the time of booking your tour that you will be traveling with a collapsible wheelchair so that we are able to make sure you are fully accommodated.
We do not provide or rent car seats at this time and the law does not require car seats on tour buses. If you wish to bring one, you will have to pay the cost for the seat on tour.
Yes, we have scheduled bathroom stops along the routes that coincide with scenic lookouts, beaches, and other stops and attractions throughout your tour. Should you require additional stops please let your tour guide know at the beginning of the tour and we will be more than happy to accommodate your request.
For your safety, please check with your doctor and find out if there are any limitations to your touring. Some sites have more medical concerns than others, like the Volcano on the Big Island, so be sure to find out of any restrictions you may have and we need to be aware of.
Yes, we have been working successfully with travelers of all ages since our inception and we wouldn't have it any other way! We do ask parents to keep their children under control at all times for the child’s safety and the enjoyment of others. Hiking tours are not recommended for infants, toddlers, and seniors who may have trouble climbing uneven terrain.
Availability here changes constantly. We can tell you something is available and then 5 minutes later someone else books and its not available anymore. If you make a booking and your activity is not available, then you will not be charged. No hassles, no worries!
H Tours Hawaii is a "one stop shop" for all the best activities in the Hawaiian Islands. Since we work with many providers, reservations are necessary. WE HIGHLY recommend making reservations, as many activities are at a discount when you reserve in advance. Some providers even charge higher for those "walking in" because they know chances are you're not going to walk away. Finally, a reservation ensures you have a space on the tour. Trust us you don't want to spend so much time and money to come to Hawaii and then miss out on an activity because they were booked out!
Choose the tour you are interested in, click the red “Book It” button adjacent to the tour information, and complete the booking form.

Wow! I don't know how Terry does it, but he has major skills in maneuvering a bus full of tourists on the Road to Hana. I felt safe - and none of us got sick, which is saying something given the curves and blind corners and such. I also learned a ton, which is one of the best parts about that tour. Terry shared history, folklore, jokes, culture...and where to get the best banana bread. It was a loooong ... moreday, which is about the only negative thing I'd say. Twelve hours on a bus is exhausting. But I felt like the tour was fairly priced and that Terry was a rockstar in making sure we all had a good time.

One of the best experiences of our week in Maui was the Road to Hana Tour, with Bjorn as our driver and knowledgeable guide. It was a day long trip, which gave us the opportunity to see the varied and incredible beauty of the island, as well as learn some wonderful historical information shared by Bjorn all along the way. Especially enjoyed learning about the mythical Menehunes and Charles Lindburgh's ... morelove for the island. Lunch at Waianapanapa State Park was great, and of course, traveling the forbidden highway from Kipahulu to Ulupalakua was an experience in itself! It was indeed a day well spent!

I took the tour of Hana this past May and it was amazing. I had Dennis as my tour guide, and he was very informative about the not only the sites we saw, but also the local culture as well. Made my glad I chose the tour instead of driving. Certainly an experience of a lifetime. Out of curiosity, does any know the name of the farm stand the tour stops at that has the free banana bread samples and the ... moremixed fruit smoothies? I was trying to find them online can not figure out which one it was.

We had a great experience on this tour. Terry was our tour guide and Uncle "R" (Can't remember his last name) was our transporter. Both were awesome! They shared so much knowledge that you couldn't get doing the Road to Hana trip by yourself. This is a definite "must do". We will recommend this tour to anyone we know coming to Maui, and will use it again the next time we want to make this trip. Thanks ... moreagain for making it a great experience!

Dennis was our guide on this tour and he did a great job. He has a very warm, friendly personality. Doing an initial tour like this when you are not acquainted with what the island has to offer is really essential. You learn so much about the culture and the best spots to visit. You could drive and follow a map but it would be somewhat stressful and all of your party would not be able to enjoy the ... moretrip. Eyes really need to be kept on the road. We stopped at some of the local stands which was very fun. The road is very crooked - something like 617 curves in the trip. Now that we have taken the tour next year we will drive ourselves and spend more time in some of the areas. Some breath taking scenery. There were three of us on this tour and we all agree it was well worth it.
