Description:

Travel with the island’s premier eco-tour company on an exciting journey of discovery to the famous North Shore of Oahu.

Driving over the jagged Ko’olau Mountains to the windward side of the island, our first stop is the fabled Valley of the Temples where we visit the picturesque Byodo Temple located at the base of stunning 2000 foot lush green cliffs.

Then we drive along the scenic shores of Kahana Bay arriving at Laie Point, a great opportunity to observe several native plant species while marveling at the breathtaking views of Kukuihoolua islet and the wild and rugged eastern-Oahu coastline.

Continuing North to Kahuku, we visit a shrimp farm to see endangered wetland birds, including Black-neck stilts, Hawaiian coots and Moorhens. We then have lunch at a popular Shrimp stand where you will be served your choice of different sauteed shrimp plates (chicken, hamburger and veggie options also available) with steaming rice. Cool down with a shave ice treat after your delicious meal.

Our next stop is the world famous Sunset Beach where incredible waves thrill viewers, especially between November and April.

Following the stunning coastline of legendary Waimea Bay we stop at a well-known basking and feeding ground to look for wild Green Sea Turtles.

Traveling South we drive through the colorful and historic village of Haleiwa, home to many surfers, artists and craftspeople.

After passing extensive pineapple fields we arrive at our last stop, the historic Dole Plantation.

On the way towards Pearl Harbor your nature guide will show you the location of the mysterious and sacred Kukaniloko Birthing Stones, "Hawaii's Stonehenge", where royal chiefs of the islands were born for over 800 years.

PLEASE NOTE: This tour is not suitable for small children. Participants need to be at least three years old.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. It is not a hiking tour, so everyone is welcome but because the tour is six hours long it is not recommended for children under the age of three years old.
H Tours Hawaii is a "one stop shop" for all the best activities in the Hawaiian Islands. Since we work with many providers, reservations are necessary. WE HIGHLY recommend making reservations, as many activities are at a discount when you reserve in advance. Some providers even charge higher for those "walking in" because they know chances are you're not going to walk away. Finally, a reservation ensures you have a space on the tour. Trust us you don't want to spend aso much time and money to come to Hawaii and then miss out on an activity because they were booked out!
Choose the tour you are interested in, click the red “Request Activity” button adjacent to the tour information, and complete the booking form. You can also call us toll free at 1 (808) 291-7954. We are available to discuss your schedule and options during our normal business hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm Hawaii Standard Time.
While we can usually accommodate most last-minute bookings, we highly encourage those that are checking out our website far in advance to book 2-3 weeks prior to desired date. You never know if there's a convention, special event, or an increase in overall visitors in town, and it would be a shame if the activities that you want to do are sold out because you waited until the last minute. Basically, if you know you want to do it, just book it!
Most companies have a set of centrally located hotels that they do pick ups from. This makes the pickup process short so you can start the tour as soon as possible!
Gratuity is never required but if you enjoyed your experience, a tip is always greatly appreciated!

My boyfriend and I took the North Shore tour with Ross and absolutely loved it! Even though we started our day a little late due to the heavy traffic from the St. Patrick's Day Parade, Ross called us in advance to let us know and made sure the tour still ran on time without making us feel rushed!... more

We stopped at the Valley of the Temples to visit the Byodo Temple, Laie Point (amazing lookout at the Oahu coastline), Sunset Beach where we saw incredible waves and surfers, we stopped off to see a few Green Sea Turtles by Waimea Bay, we drove through the beautiful village of Haleiwa and made our final stop at the Dole Plantation (pineapple fro yo!!)

Ross was an incredible tour guide-- he was knowledgeable and funny. I was very entertained the entire trip, but I also learned so much about the history of all the Hawaiin islands without ever getting bored. I can't wait to return to Waikiki to take another Oahu Nature Tour!

“Best Tours of the Trip!”
Overall:
We had a great time on two different tours with Oahu Nature Tours. Ross was the guide for both so I wanted to give him some props. He was so knowledgable and customized his tours to the interests of the guests and really seemed to enjoy doing what he does. On the NorthShore tour we went to an amazingly beautiful Japanese temple and some rock formations on the east side of the island before seeing ... moresome surfers catching some pretty big waves on the north shore. And sea turtles as well! Dole Pineapple plantation was the last stop and the ice cream was delicious and you can tell it's made with real pineapples!

Diamond Head tour was the other one we did on Oahu. I was hesitant before it started but it was totally worth it. My parents who are in their 60s made it up fine and the views were amazing. You can whale watch from up there and see almost all of the island. Great pictures. Thanks Oahu Nature Tours!

The North Shore Tour was the BEST thing the bf and I did in Hawaii! Visiting sites like the dragon's eye, chinaman's hat, shrimp farms, pineapple farms, turtle beach, and the beautiful countryside; It was quite the eventful day! Our guide was very informative and we learned so much about the island during this tour.... more

The only downside is that the van they pick you up in is a little old. It seats about 8-10 per van with one person on the front seat. Which means if you're one of the last groups to be picked up, the chances of you getting to sit with your group or even another person is slim!

Remember to wear comfy CLOSED-TOE shoes!

“Enjoyable Northshore”
Overall:
Great way to see some sights without driving yourself in horrible Oahu traffic. Guide Tiffany was cheerful, knowledgeable = made the tour a winner. Gave interesting info on crop changes away from pineapple to cocoa, coffee, shrimp and tid-bits about local's way of life. Saw sea turtles. Do buy a fortune in Byodo Temple shop - fun! Dole Plantation Shop's commericalism was a bit much for me > did enjoy ... moretheir pineapple cutting demonstration. Not a strenuous 1/2 day outing. Very decent bus with good pick-up/drop-off spot. Bathroom stops. Decent tour price so no regrets re: $ spent. More driving than stopping yet interesting! If went over again, would take their coffee and chocolate tour. Do tip tour guide.

My husband and I took the Turtle and North Shore Tour last week and had a great time. They pick you up at your hotel around 12:30pm and bring you back around 6:30pm (lunch is not included - so eat before you go). We saw many beautiful sights, to include the Byodo-In Temple, Sunset Beach, Chinaman's Hat, Dole Plantation and more; however, our favorite part was watching the turtles at the end of the ... moretour. We got to see many swimming in the ocean, then one came up on shore as well. Paul was a funny and nice guide. He also brought along Daimar, who was a whale expert from Maui. We got to see some whales off in the distance by "Dragon's Eye" as well. Definitely money well-spent and a great way to see a lot of the island in one afternoon. We would definitely use this company again if we return.

“Cheapest and the best tour we took”
Overall:
This was a pleasant surprise - we had a tour booked with another company (unrelated to the nature tour) who didn't pick us up and left us hanging. While trying to figure out what to do, we were given info on this tour, and they were willing to pick us up right away. The tour guide was named Paul and he was absolutely excellent. His passion for Hawaii really came through in his tour. He was very good ... moreabout keeping everyone on track so that we had enough time at each stop. He had a lot of knowledge about Hawaii and was very informative - was a fairly long drive and he kept us entertained during the drive.

Ours was the circle island tour - and my only suggestion would be to add a half an hour to the tour. We had enough time to see everything but the Dole Pineapple Plantation which was last - we had very little time there. But this was not the driver's fault -we saw so many amazing things, there just isn't enough time to fit it all in, even though everyone was really good about getting back to the bus on time. I think starting it a half an hour earlier would have been perfect.

Kudos to the company and the tour guide. You turned what started out as a horrible day completely around into one of the most memorable days of our trip!

I did 2 tours with these people. Both tours were very good. Friendly tour guides, friendly tourists. Before each tour the bus would pick us up from our hotel lobby. Both offered something different and equally important. First is a hike to a waterfall. FUN. I'm not an outdoorsy person whatsoever but wanted to do something that my boyfriend would like. The waterfall was weak when we saw it but it was ... morestill pretty. We were able to stop every so often and take pictures. The hike wasn't too vigorous. It was mainly a slight slope. Our group opted to take the detour up the side of the mountain to look at some view. So we hiked up to look at trees. I just wanted to go back to the bus by this point, but wanted to be a good sport so I went along.

2nd was a bus tour. The order of this may be completely wrong, but I'll recall it as best I can. The first stop was a Buddhist temple. My Asian boyfriend liked it a lot, I thought it was interesting. I love other cultures. It was red and there was a giant bell. We had enough time to walk around it at our leisure. Next stop was the bunny island. If you walk out on this rock you can look and see an island that looks like a bunny. Or something like that. Then we saw the turtle beach. A beach where turtles come to lay out and get tan. The government puts up ropes so you don't get too close to the wildlife. Then we stopped at the Dole Banana plantation but didn't go inside. I don't know why this was a stop. We also stopped at some store where we bought BBQ sauce. Good BBQ sauce. The bus ride had a tape audio tour to let you know what you're looking at as you drive by

I love this tour company. My boyfriend has been on a number of tours with them, but I have only been on one to the north shore. Although this is a bus tour and I was kind of hoping for a good hike, it was a good one. We stopped at the Byodo temple, which is a replica of a temple I had been to in Kyoto. We also stopped, in no particular order, at turtle beach, haleiwa, laie point, and fumi's shrimp ... moretruck, which alone was worth the trip! The tour guide was also very attentive, funny, and knowledgeable.

Absolutely loved the Oahu tour we had: red Buddhist temple, windy fishing spot wth a big rock that looked like a giant alligator, little conical island, surfing beach, sea turtle beach, SPICY shrimp lunch, shave ice stands in Haleiwa [I want to live there], and the birthing stones between the mountains.... more
Sam was a knowledgeable guide, who obviously loves his home - Hawai'i. He used humor, music and surf video to help bring the full busload of people from all over the world to a better understanding of the islands in just a few brief hours.
Was blown away to learn that the palms, pineapples and other picturesque "nature" on the islands are all non-native imports.
I wish we were still there to be able to go on the other tours offered [no, nothing to do with the FREEZING temps here in Boston!]
If you are lucky enough to be travelling to the islands, I recommend this great way to get to know them better.

Took the North Shore and Manoa Falls Hike with Oahu, had Harry and Dante as the tour guides. Both were awesome, provided so much information and always entertaining. Originally thought the tour would just be pointing out the sight seeing spots and what to look for, but both Harry and Dante provided more interesting facts which made the trip a fun, interesting, and learning experience. It made me appreciate ... morethe nature and Hawaiian culture so much more.
