Description:
Viewing Spinner Dolphins & Humpback Whales
We begin as Nai’a I departs from Waianae Boat Harbor and travels along the scenic west coast in search of Spinner Dolphins. Take some of the most incredible photographs of your vacation as the Spinners come to visit you and perform their superb aerial stunts. Few people have the opportunity to see these spectacular displays. Occasionally, we encounter Bottlenose Dolphins and Spotted Dolphins too. In winter, dolphins share the waters with mighty Humpback Whales.  The Nai’a I is fast and maneuverable, to get you out to the whales quickly.  You’ll have plenty of time to experience their breaches, fin and tail slaps. The boat’s maneuverability also allows us to easily shift position for the best possible viewing, and it’s low profile makes the view unforgettable. Even a baby whale (calf) appears to be enormous from your perspective.  Other whale species often visit our waters from time to time like Pilot Whales.

Swimming with Dolphins
Swimming and photo opportunities with the dolphins includes our in-water program, known as ‘The Drop’. If the dolphins are awake and playful, we conduct The Drop, allowing guests to safely get wet with the dolphins and experience the sights and sounds of dolphin play from a unique underwater perspective. Imagine this: You’re in the water, with a mask and snorkel and suddenly you are surrounded by Spinner Dolphins casually swimming by you chatting amongst each other, as they go about their business. This is an ocean safari that can not be experienced in a park. For novice snorkelers, a professional guide will instruct you, giving advice and educating you about dolphin behavior. Snorkeling and safety gear is provided. The Drop is successful 90% of the time.

Snorkeling with Tropical Fish & Sea Turtles
Snorkeling takes place among two of Hawaii’s most pristine reefs, teeming with colorful fish and inquisitive Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles. Snorkeling during the winter months is weather and surf dependent. More time is added to viewing whales if snorkeling is not possible.Snorkel gear included: masks, snorkel, fins and a life vest. All gear is professionally cleaned after every tour at our gear washing facility. Our Sea Sport brand of gear includes adult, child, and prescription masks. Our retail shop also offers brand new equipment for purchase. Wet suits are available to rent for an additional 10$.

Complimentary Lunch
After your tour with us, we will bring you to our café, Spinners for a nice sit down meal. Select from Spinners’ full menu when you check in and we will have it ready for you when you return.

Frequently Asked Questions
Click on the red "Book It" button and you will see live availability. Keep in mind availability changes constantly, so make sure to book in advance!
H Tours Hawaii is a "one stop shop" for all the best activities in the Hawaiian Islands. Since we work with many providers, reservations are necessary. WE HIGHLY recommend making reservations, as many activities are at a discount when you reserve in advance. Some providers even charge higher for those "walking in" because they know chances are you're not going to walk away. Finally, a reservation ensures you have a space on the tour. Trust us you don't want to spend so much time and money to come to Hawaii and then miss out on an activity because they were booked out!
Choose the tour you are interested in, click the red “Book It” button adjacent to the tour information, and complete the booking form.
Most companies, if not all, require you to call them if you're trying to book something 2-3 days in advance. Do you really want to be spending your valuable time in Hawaii calling around to desperately find something that is available to do? While we can usually accommodate most last-minute bookings, we highly encourage those that are checking out our website far in advance to book 2-3 weeks prior to desired date. You never know if there's a convention, special event, or an increase in overall visitors in town, and it would be a shame if the activities that you want to do are sold out because you waited until the last minute. Basically, if you know you want to do it, just book it!
Most companies have a set of centrally located hotels that they do pick ups from. When you select your hotel, you will see the pickup location and directions. This makes the pickup process short so you can start the tour as soon as possible!
Gratuity is never required but if you enjoyed your experience, a tip is always greatly appreciated!
While we have a 90% success rate, these are wild animals, therefore we cannot guarantee. But, if you don't see dolphins then you can come back again for FREE!

My son, age 12, and I just went on the Dolphin snorkel tour 2 weeks ago. I can not tell you what a wonderful time we had! They were very well prepared to include a reminder call the night before the tour because my email had not gone through. I have read some reviews complaining that they had to look for the Dolphins or Whales and I would expect that as you are in a vast ocean. The fist pod of Dolphins ... morewe snorkeled with we must have seen no less than 50 Dolphins, to include some babies jumping and playing. The water was warm and very clear. there were also lots of fish as an added bonus. We enjoyed the boat ride it was fun. Next we went 3 miles out to look for a pod of Spinner Dolphins that they had seen in the morning, seemed like a needle in a haystack BUT they were able to find them again. It was spooky and awesome to be in 2500 feet deep water looking for the Dolphins. Next we went over to see the Sea Turtles and more fish.
The Captain Jenna, and Emmanuel (sorry if misspelled) and the female photographer were GREAT! It was apparent that safety was first, and they were all very friendly, engaging, knowledgeable, and fun.
They also provide lunch immediately after the tour, you place your order before you leave. It was a treat being able to hop off the boat eat a nice lunch before heading back out.
I would recommend Dramamine or sea sick pills if prone to motion sickness just due to nature of longer boat ride and waves, my son gets very sea sick and did great with some Dramamine.
We hope to take this exact tour again in the future and highly recommend it to anyone!!

My husband and I booked an Excursion for Sunday morning, May 20th. We have done other boat tours for sightings of whales and swimming with turtles. But by far, this Dolphin Excursion gave us the most exciting, most rewarding and most enjoyable time for the money. It was an early tour. I picked that time for a couple of reasons. I heard that the dolphins would be out in abundance at that time of day ... moreand I knew the ocean waters would most likely be calmer then. To our wonderful surprise our boat was only half full. This added to the spaciousness of the boat. No matter, though, if it were filled, this would be an outstanding experience. This is a 3 hour tour, but we had so much fun that it went very quickly.
We saw dolphins AND turtles, and we got to swim with them as well!
We slide into the ocean and followed our directions so we didn't scare the dolphins away. We saw more than one pod of dolphins. We saw spinner dolphins (playing and spinning!) and we saw spotted dolphins, (learning that they get their spots when they are adults).
While we were on the boat Dolphins swam along side us. They were so close and we could hear them talking with each other.
And looking up we saw an albatross flying high! The scenery of the mountains in the background, and the big beautiful blue ocean took me far away from my everyday toils.
The crew was super great. The Captain, the Nature expert and the photographer, Paul, worked together and communicated with us so we would know when to look and where to look. Sometimes the dolphins swam right below us and we were told to look down. Sometimes the turtles swam right in the middle of our group. The protection of the sea life was number one, our pleasure was number two.
It was asked more than once if we were getting to see what we wanted to see, and if anyone felt disappointed. And then they went on search for more dolphins. It was radioed to other boats where the dolphins were, so we could spread the joy.
The boat had a ladder to get up on that was easy enough for even me to get up on. The boat was super comfortable and a grand experience. I loved the sea air blow in my face and hair.
Soon I will be seeing the photo's I bought that Paul took. He was professional, and super nice. I liked the thought that this experience will be remembered through professional pictures.
I would not want to see dolphins any other way. Dolphin Excursions are the first and only place I would recommend for an experience like this. And if you can't decide which tour to take, you really can not go wrong. These people are doing everything right! Great memory maker.

AMAZING!! We saw probably 300 dolphins all together. They came up right next to the boat and we were able to jump in and see them swim below about 15 feet away from us. The crew was awesome. Lunch was decent. We also got to see some sea turtles and a humpback whale and her calf! Best excursion I have ever done!

I have lived in Hawaii for the majority of my life, and swimming near dolphins was always something I've wanted to do. As a child I would frequently dream about being surrounded in the ocean by beautiful, intelligent dolphins. So I was over the moon when my boyfriend told me he booked a tour for my birthday!! I pictured myself being one with the ocean, happier then ever. Buuuut, it turns out that ... moreI get quite seasick.

So for at least half of the tour, I was trying to fight back the nausea. But everyone working on the tour was great, they tried to find the calmest waters for those that were feeling sick. We chose the 10:00 am tour, and within about 20 minutes we saw dolphins!!! Just being able to see them from the boat was worth it! Many people got in the water to see them as well, but since I was feeling sick, I could only bring myself to get in the water once :/ I'm determined to do the tour again, and next time I'll bring a sea sickness path or something like that! Also, I just wanted to say that the employees of the tour seem extremely educated and respectful of the Wild life. They told us upfront that seeing dolphins wouldn't be guaranteed. They let the animals be, and made sure everyone knew to respect and not disturb the animals. This was overall a great experience (:

... more
この感動は、ずっと忘れません。
本当に楽しかったです。またハワイに来るときは参加したいと思います!

Saw whales and spinner dolphins close up, a turtle when snorkeling, and had a nice lunch on the catamaran. Couldn't ask for more than that on our 3 hr tour. The weather never got rough and we didn't get stranded on Gilligan's island. Our crew was fantastic!!!

My family had a great time today (mid January). It's whale season and we were able to see a whale breach. While we only saw four Dolphins, our captain was considerate of the dolphins space and allowed us to get in the water with them without scaring them away. We were also able to see multiple sea turtles. It was a rather slow day for creature watching but the charismatic crew more than made up for ... moreit. The small boat allows you to have a truly individualized experience. It's not crowded in the water and the meal included in the cost is incredible! We will be traveling with this company again.

We had a blast! our guides, Lexi, Mandy and Jenna were equal parts knowledgeable and fun. We saw tons of dolphins, sea turtles and more tropical fish than I can remember the names of. Lexi bravely wrangled an octopus for us (it was Tako Tuesday after all). Highly recommend Dolphin Excursions!

What an absolutely beautiful day and experience had with Dolphin Excursions Hawaii! Right from pick up at our hotel the customer services and friendliness was exceptional. After gearing up and heading out on the boat, finding the Dolphin pods we were straight into the water. Iv wanted to swim with dolphins for years but can't stand the thought of doing it with them in captivity, seeing and hearing ... morethem in the ocean is an unreal experience. On our trip we managed to not only see the spinner Dolphins but a pod of bottle nose, sea turtles and hundreds of different types of fish!
100% best tour I did whilst visiting Hawaii!

Definitely worth the money. A great group of professionals that showed us a great time. We were able to swim with several dolphin pods and sea turtles in their natural environment. Plus they picked us up right from our hotel which was about a one hour drive each way. Excellent service and very knowledgeable staff. Thank you for the once in a lifetime experience!
