Description:
We're ready...are you?

Cliff's Super Awesome Tour can accommodate all sizes of groups, and groups up to 14 can be booked directly through the BOOK button below. When you're ready, book now and we'll kick your vacation up a notch!  The longer you wait, the better chance of you ending up on one of those big prison buses! We do hotel pickups, residential pick ups, and any other kind of pick up you can imagine provided that it's on Oahu.  If you'd like to be picked up from Maui, well...give us a ring and we'll get the boat ready!

Let's see where you're going...

Its turtle time!

I'll take you snorkeling with HUGE Hawaiian green sea turtles.  If you're not a fan of snorkeling, no problem, you can usually catch them sun bathing on the beach.  I provide the snorkels and nature provides the sea turtles.

My favorite beach

Makapu'u is one of the most beautiful lookouts on Oahu and is a great place to see whales when in season. It’s so beautiful that you’ll have to pinch yourself to know that you’re not dreaming.

Remember Sarah Marshall?

Lai'e Point is a hot spot for whale watching, cliff jumping, beautiful views, and is where the cliff scene in Forgetting Sarah Marshall was filmed.  Want to cliff jump?  We can talk about it.  Safety first, but fun comes a close second.  Personally, I love jumping off when the conditions are right.

Local Kahuku shrimp

Everyone loves the locally raised Kahuku shrimp. We eat on 20 acres of Hawaiian country, right on the river where large Hawaiian green sea turtles often swim up to say hi. If you're not a fan of shrimp, there's also Kalua pork, teriyaki chicken, and veggie dishes.

Surf's up

World famous surf beach on the North Shore. If you come to Oahu, you need to check out Pipeline Beach.  Big bus tours can't park there, but I have a nice small van that will get us there no problem!

Surfing and coconuts

Sunset Beach is another famous surf beach on the North Shore, and a good place to stop for fresh coconuts drinks when they’re being sold out the back of a pickup truck.

Pineapple everything

We'll stop by Dole Plantation for pineapple ice cream, fresh pineapple juice, and also to see where the Waialua coffee and pineapples are grown.

A volcano!

We'll check out the beautiful ocean view at Diamond Head Lookout, and I'll show you some empty, hidden beaches walkable from Waikiki!

Kona coffee, flavoured peanut butter, local hot sauces...

Too many good things here. I don't want to ruin the surprise, but we're going to get some tasty local snacks here!

See Waikiki from above

Most tours don’t go here because it’s “not convenient”, but I still take you here because it's the most amazing view of Waikiki, Diamond Head, and the ocean.
Imagine catching a sunset up here!

Fresh fruit

We'll stop by some roadside local fruit stands on our way to the North Shore.  Every now and then they have something called banana lumpia, which is a sliced banana dusted with brown sugar, rolled in a spring roll wrapper and fried.  Count me in!

A high pressure stop
The blowhole is a neat stop close to Sandy's Beach. It's not geothermal, it's actually water shooting out of a lava tube pressurized by the ocean waves.  Neat to look at, but I wouldn't crawl in there.

Wear it as a hat!

This is a goofy stop.  It's actually a beautiful place, right between the tropical farm and where Jurassic Park was filmed, and we usually end up taking a bunch of strange, sometimes less-than-appropriate photos with this island.  It's nicknamed "Chinaman's Hat", we're still unsure why, maybe you know.

Margaritas and shopping?

Yes Historic Haleiwa town on the North Shore...you'll love this stop.  Check out some local shops, arts, crafts, coffee, or grab a margarita at Cholos if you're thirsty.

The above is a sample of a normal day, but we can go anywhere and do anything.  Each tour is unique, and catered to you...the way it should be!
Every day from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Limited seating, so book now!

Frequently Asked Questions
We are a tour company built by tour guides. We've all worked for big & small companies, and always felt we could offer so much more if we could just have our own vehicles. One magical day, we broke off, bought some vehicles, and created Ohana Island Tours...the go anywhere, do everything, make all your dreams come true tour. It's the way a day in Hawaii should be spent.
In general, a full day, or around 8 hours, but we can completely adjust the route and times if you have special requests.
It depends. We have an amazing, proven route that everyone enjoys, but that being said, we can break route and go wherever! One of the first things we ask when we have our group is… "does anyone have anything special they just must do today?” If we can do it, we will do it!
As much time as you’d like! If you really enjoy a stop and want to stay longer, we can. We’ll just have a quick chat about what might have to be adjusted later in the day, and if all sounds good, we'll do it!
We leave Waikiki at 8:00 am, and come back around 4:00 pm. If everyone is having an epic time and nobody has anything they must be back for, we can come back whenever! We want you to have the chance to see everything and not feel rushed.
Just you...it's a private tour!
All of the time! For private tours, we can accommodate any size party. For large parties, we just get a 25 passenger, or sometimes several 25 passenger buses. Our favourite is the 23 passenger karaoke bus!
In general, I go anticlockwise around the island, and stop at all of the same stops we take our friends and family to when they visit Hawaii and want to “experience the island”. Because we drive a passenger vans, we can go many places big bus tours cannot go. Every stop is carefully chosen, not for “tour guide commissions” like many tour companies do, but because every stop really is a good place to see and spend some time. You’re truly are getting a “friends and family visiting the island” experience.
A couple reasons, allow me to explain. Lunch is usually included in tours when: 1. The tour company has a relationship with the restaurant, and receives cash per person brought there. 2. The restaurant has quick service. 3. Big bus parking is convenient. 4. Lastly, and this sadly is last, the food is good enough that customers won't complain. Put another way, food quality is not top priority when "lunch is included". We know all of the good places to eat, and we'll explain each, make suggestions, and let you choose. Everyone gets excited about North Shore Kahuku shrimp shacks...but which shrimp shacks serve frozen shrimp bought at Costco and which serve locally raised Kahuku shrimp? We know which ones :) You'll eat well on our tour. Lunch is usually $12-15.00.
Yes. It's not included in the tour, but there are many great places along our route where you can stand up paddle. If you're interested, while the rest of the gang is doing something else in the area, we can take you to a good place, get you a local rate on the stand up paddle, you'll have fun doing that, and when you're finished we'll swing by to get you and continue on! Long story short, we can make anything happen, so if there is something you'd like to do that is not included, there will be a message box in the booking form, or ask your tour guide and we will put together a personal itinerary just for you! Instead of asking "Can we do this?" we ask "How can we do this?".
You’ll be in a 2016, safe, clean, and comfortable passenger van. It’s our favourite way to cruise around the island. If your party is 7 or more we will provide you with a spacious Mercedes Sprinter. Over 15, we'll be in a really cool 23 passenger bus with a karaoke machine!
You could try, and we hear this all of the time, but there are a few problems. 1. Most don't know where to go, and the recommended places on maps and websites are usually there because someone is paying to have them there, meaning that they're not necessarily the "top" places to go. 2. If you do get a list of good places, looking at a map or listening to a robot GPS tell you where to go on a vacation is not any fun. 3. Now let's say you actually can find the places...how long should you stay at each? How do you fit everything into a day without feeling rushed? 4. What if you want to enjoy a frosty brew or a few cocktails along the way? Don't want to drink and drive. We've figured all of this out for you, so if you really are planning on renting a car, let us take you to all the sweet spots first, and then when you rent the car you'll know exactly where to spend most of your time.
We're your tour guide AND your designated driver. If you're trying to enjoy some nice cocktails on your vacation, go right ahead! Even if you're little buzzed the van will still drive between the lines!
No problem! We do require a 24 hour notice to issue refunds or to change dates, but sometimes exceptions can be made. If you need to change, just let us know and we’ll work it out. We're human and things happen.

Was the tour accurately described on the webiste? In other words did it meet your expectations?

Traveling is stressful, traveling with a young toddler is even more stressful! We took our first family vacation to Oahu and could not be more pleased with our entire trip, including the Ohana Island Tour. We kicked off our trip with the tour on our second day in Waikiki. Jake picked us up from our hotel and was so flexible in accommodating our sons nap schedule. We drove to some scenic areas where ... morewe were able to take photos and enjoy the view without waking up our son, Jake even stayed in the car with him so that we could all go off and take pictures together.

What impressed me about the tour was Jake's knowledge of the history and folklore of the Hawaiian heritage. He was well versed in stories about the land and also about the current economy and businesses on the island. He jokingly warns you from the beginning that he will talk your ear off if you let him so if you're not into geek-out facts and conversation then this tour is probably not for you.

The great thing about this tour is that it's private, we had a party of 5 which included our 16 month old son. Jake was flexible, easy going, and accommodating, taking us to a couple touristy attractions (Dole Plantation), as well as secluded lesser known areas that you can't find by simply googling.

We look forward to returning to Hawaii and doing a more focused tour when our son is older!

Best Tour EVER!! MUST BOOK WITH THEM!!
Overall:
Cliff didn't disappoint us - he was GREAT!! He picked us up in a new mini van and took us out of the city and explained what he planned for us for the day. He brought a cooler and snorkel gear for all of us to use. We went to Spitting Cave (an out of the way place) to see the ocean where there were cliffs and a beautiful view of the ocean. We then went to Koko Head Trail and we proceeded up the very ... moresteep trail - him without shoes. We got part way up and my wife didn't want to continue - no problem Cliff said. He was more than accommodating and took her to the botanical garden inside the crater while the rest of us climbed to the top of the mountain and when we were on our way back we called to let them know so they could meet us at the bottom with the van. We made several stops along the way to see fantastic views of the ocean and look for turtles. We visited Tropical Farms of Hawaii for free samples of coffee, macadamia nuts, and hot sauces. For lunch, we wanted to go to his secret place for shrimp, but they were closed that day so he had a plan B - went to Mike's Shrimp Truck seen on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives which was excellent!! I wanted to go to the North Shore to see the Banzai Pipeline where they hold surfing competitions . The surf was so high they had it roped off, but still saw some crazy surfers there. We told him we wanted to go to the Dole Plantation and he asked why. We told him we thought it would be something to see, but he told us their ice cream is made from corn and there is no pineapple in it. He promised us a better ice cream location and a margarita place as well. We went to see the Chinaman's Hat where he did a video of us running from dinosaurs which was really neat. We never got to see any turtles, although Cliff went to numerous spots to please my wife's request (due to rough waves). One location we went to look for turtles was a beautiful empty public beach on a small pathway through a private community on the North Shore which would be nice to visit for privacy. On the return to Waikiki, it rained several times and seeing numerous rainbows was spectacular. After fighting the traffic he got us safely back to our hotel. This tour is so much better than the other, larger, non personal tours of the island and the price is very reasonable - book it today - don't wait!! They also have access to larger vans for larger groups. Thanks Cliff - My wife says that going on another tour with you is the only reason to come back to Oahu!! She wishes you gave tours on the big island as well.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Overall:
This part of our of Oahu trip was one of the highlights of our vacation. Our tour guide Cliff was knowledgeable and very accommodating. Time and destinations were all customized. We were so glad we did this private tour as we were able to do the things we wanted without having to rush as you would on a regular tour. We also visited a lot of places and did some cool stuff in one day (thanks for the ... morestampede video Cliff ☺). This was an awesome experience and our family had a great time! We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Oahu.

Wonderful Day !
Overall:
Our tour of Oahu was on Dec 26. We were a family of 6 with two small children and my parents. I knew this was the tour for us as soon as I phoned the company and spoke with Cliff. He was so friendly and reassuring, after speaking to him directly, we booked straight away. Our guide, Bon Jovy contacted me the night before to discuss the tour and find out what our "must dos" were and what we had already ... moredone on the island. Again, super friendly and accommodating on the phone. We spent the whole next day with Bon Jovy and it was so nice to not be part of a tour bus. He made sure that we knew we could do whatever we wanted and that we could move at our own pace. He was kind and knowledgable and joked along the way. It was obvious that he truly wants his guests to have a memorable day. I also really appreciated the personal follow up text from Cliff the day after to make sure we were happy. I would definitely recommend this company. Thanks again BonJovy for a wonderful, relaxing day away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki.

That was amazing!
Overall:
Where to begin? We saw beautiful lookouts off the beaten path, ate amazing coconut and garlic butter Kahuku shrimp, swam with Hawaiian green sea turtles, enjoyed some “adult” beverages, stopped by a local fruit stand, and well, pretty much did everything we wanted to do and more. I don’t know what else to say- it was a wonderful day and we’ll never forget it. Just do this tour and you won’t have to ... moreworry about anything. Jake will take you everywhere, you’ll do everything, and you’ll never feel rushed. Thanks Jake!

Unforgettable tour!!!
Overall:
Our tour guy was Jake and let me tell ya this guy is awesome!!! He took us to the best parts of the island, got some delicious spicy shrimp, went snorkeling, and even played his ukulele for us. So glad I found this private tour or else I'd be spending my money on a tour bus, which only takes you to limited areas. Not to mention he even gave us a ride to china town for free after the tour was over. ... moreThis tour made my whole visit to Hawaii a million times better to say the least.

Do this tour FIRST!
Overall:
We were SO glad we chose these guys for our tour of Oahu - and so glad we did it as the FIRST thing on our trip. Jake was our guide, and he was amazing. It was like a friend showing you around to all their cool favorite places, as a local who really knows the spots to see. We walked out on rocky cliffs, climbed a few extra feet for some epic island views, a few secluded beaches (with Jake's Ukulele ... morein the background - yay!), some famous surf spots, dolphins, turtle beaches, and great authentic food stops. Jake made sure to figure out just what we were really looking to see, and even adapted to our last minute changes. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the island and we had some lively conversations that I don't expect to ever have with any other tour guide!

Depending on what you are looking to do on this tour, I would recommend a camera first and foremost, a pen and paper to record any great stories or cool facts that you WILL pick up, a bathing suit if you're opting for the snorkeling or water, and maybe some sturdy shoes (it gets slippery after rain!). We spent a full 8 hours with Jake, and our only regret was not having a chance to buy that guy a beer later! (We owe you - next time!)

Lastly, the reason it's great to do this tour first is that you will see SO much of the island - there were many places that we saw that we were able to pinpoint if we wanted to come back to, or if what we saw on the tour was enough. Some food places we tried to stop at were closed (Thanksgiving weekend), and we were able to go back to them later. It helped us plan the remaining days of our vacation a bit more easily!

Thanks Ohana Island Tours and Jake! You guys made our anniversary extraordinary.

Very laid back and FUN tour!

20th Anniversary Fun!
Overall:
GREAT GREAT GREAT! These guys get an A+! Cliff and Jake took us off the beaten tourist traps to find the diamond in the rough! They first picked us up from our hotel and continued to dazzle us with all the splendor that Oahu has to offer! We swam with the turtles, enjoyed beautiful vistas, panoramic views, and glorious short hikes! We saw places that were in movies like Jurassic World, pirates of ... morethe Caribbean, Tora, Tora, Tora and so many more! They specially designed a tour around what we wanted! We ate at Mike's which had the best garlic shrimp I've ever tasted! My hubby had the steak and he was very impressed! This place was featured in several Food Network shows. We continued on to the North Shore where the Van's Triple Crown Surfing competition was being held. It was awesome to be in the waves there! This private guided tour is exactly how you want to be introduced to the island!

Sea turtles, dolphins, Kahuku garlic butter shrimp, Hollywood filming locations, famous surf beaches, and on and on. Jake, our guide, was amazing. He knows everything about the island, was down to earth and entertaining at the same time, and we want to adopt him as a new member of our family. Jake will give you a bunch of suggestions, ask you if you have any MUST DO’s, and then put the day together ... moreinto “let’s make it all happen” day. Thanks Jake, we’re finding you next time!

Do it now trust me. My 2nd time on this tour. Hopefully I'll go again sometime. Avoid comparing all the tours and buses online cuz it will drive you crazy. You gotta take this tour! Small and friendly group and Jake is awesome! Last time Cliff was our guide and he really knows the island and happy to answer qxs. Jake knows Oahu quite well and we sang, stopped for yummy food, swam with turtles, snorkeled ... more(gear provided by tour but perfectly fine if you bring your own snorkel gear). All their gear is clean and sanitized after each use. There is so much more to write about but I'll save that after my 3rd Ohana Island Tour.

Worth every penny... seriously. It's funny how the video on the homepage talks about just hanging in Waikiki because that is literally what my friend and I did on our trip here. I googled tours and saw this one and just went for it. Cliff is one of a kind and so chill. We had some bomb food and got the best full tour. It felt like i was just riding with good friends. I will be taking this tour every ... moretime I come back to Oahu. ALOHA CLIFF!
