This is the traditional bike route with an added bonus, making it the longest bike ride in the industry!
Your Maui Bike Tour begins there, with a comfortable and informative 30 minute drive to the Kula Lodge, where we’ll make a brief rest room stop. 15 minutes will be given to check out the gift shop there.
Then, we drive another 30 minutes up scenic Haleakala Volcano , to an elevation of 6700 feet above sea level. We then get the bikes ready, go over safety and rules, then. ..IT’S TIME TO ROCK AND ROLL!
Your Maui bike tour begins at the top of Haleakala Ranch, and the first 7 miles we will be twisting and turning through 19 switchbacks and hairpin turns..all while descending to 4700 feet above sea level! After that 7 mile stretch, at the bottom of the ranch, we stop to load up the bikes, turn around, and go back to the top to do it AGAIN. Because it is THAT AWESOME.
The second leg of the bike ride is the longest. Starting again from top of the ranch, we bike 18 miles, through the ranch, then through some of the most picturesque towns on Maui…the towns of Kula and Makawao. This stretch is mostly downhill and when we stop in Makawao, we’ll be at an elevation of 1700 feet above sea level.
Once in Makawao, we take about a 45 minute break where you’ll be treated to an amazing lunch at one of the hidden treasures of Maui….the Makawao Garden Cafe. You’ll also have a little time to check out this awesomely unique little town.
After lunch, it’s back on the bikes for the final stretch. A 7 mile downhill coast, passing pineapple fields and sugar cane fields . We’ll bike through the town of Paia and end the journey at the beach, Baldwin Beach Park.
After some high fives, fist bumps, and hugs, you’ll be more than welcome to dip in the ocean to cool off, take some pictures, and just enjoy the beauty of the area. We’ll then get you back to Kihei and Wailea and say our Alohas.
